They aren’t sure who his father was, but Khai was brought to Y’shtola early in life by his mother, a young Keeper who wasn’t ready for motherhood yet, let alone to a child who would prove ‘odd’. She knew only that the hermit-woman in the cave-cottage was a friend to the Amano [once Ahmahno] line, and was the sort of person who could look after an ‘odd’ child. So the boy grew up under the watchful eye of Y’shtola, learning magic along with more mundane things, and learning how to blend in.
That lesson never stuck very well. Because Khai took his small size and fairly androgynous form and tends to stand out with his attitude, fashion sense, and love of what others call the ‘occult’. He’s got a little store in Idyllshire that Y’shtola helped him buy after he graduated college, and it’s his pride and joy. The burlesque thing? He started that during college because it brought in a little extra dough and it was FUN!
