Daryl glanced at the blonde, frowning a bit. He turned away from her, trying not to feel her gaze on him, but couldn't shake the feeling. "Ya don't know what I am," He muttered, pulling a cigarette from his pocket. He lit it, taking a deep drag and shaking his head. "Ain't ever been nothin' good."

Daryl was quick to corner Beth before she darted out the door. " 'M sorry," He babbled, " 'm sorry, I should let you know I was gonna be goin'," His voice was low and bashful. Cheeks flushed with embarrassment and not wanting her to leave tonight, not with her angry at him. "Didn't know I'd be gone so long," He managed to mutter, hoping she'd try to understand. "I had ta stay put a while,"

Peter was sipping some coffee on the couch, a habit he picked up from moving across the pond. His phone began to rang. An unfamiliar number popped up on his screen, which was odd. It was an American cell phone. The only person from the states that knew his number was Aunt May, so who could possibly be calling? He pushed it back in his pants pocket and turned on the tv, browsing through channels.
His phone rang for a second time, a small little beep. It was a voicemail alert from the stranger who called him before. He sighed, pulling his phone out of his pocket again. Hopefully it wasn’t anything important. It was Sunday, the ‘unofficial’ date night that they both had with each other. He would hate to cancel on his fiance on such a short notice.
”Hi, um, Peter? The voice was familiar, he could almostAh. picture the face that it belonged to, but S h i t. not quite. It was husky, and deep, a tadI don’t blame you if bit sad sounding. It had to be someone heyou don’t remember. ” knew, since the person on the other end of the line knew his name."Peter….you k n o w I’m shit No. Pfft, no. It couldn’t be him. It couldn’t with these be the boy that he fondled over for years. t h i n g s.” It couldn’t be the boy that kissed him at the park. It couldn’t be the boy he cried over for months on end when he left. It couldn’t be the boy who’s sweater he still had, the boy who’s smell was no longer
"It’s Harry." familiar, it couldn’t b -
it was.
” I’m coming home.”
This had to be some prank. Some kind of sick joke. He had finally, finally moved on from this son of a bitch and now, n o w of all times he has to come back to New York? Peter couldn’t just book a ticket and go. He couldn’t lie to his wife to be either. She didn’t know about Harry, not at all. She knew that they were childhood friends, but nothing more. She didn’t know about them kissing under a tree in the park, a father slapping his son right in front of his best friend, a child whisked away from the person who…. who loved him.
Who s t i l l loves him. Peter jumped up from the couch, his phone slipping from his hand. He had to go see him, he had to see Harry as soon as possible. He couldn’t have Harry show up and have Aunt May tell him that he’s gone, that he left, that he’s… he’s gonna be married. How the fuck is Gwen gonna take this?
”H a r r y,” Peter was greeted with a voicemail inbox, which secretly he was thankful for.
”Harry, it’s Peter.
I’m coming home. I’m coming home to you, as s o o n as i can, so please, please wait for me.”
He couldn’t leave right now. He had a family here, friends, a wife to be which he was in love with, obligations. As much as he would love to fly back to the states right this instant, he couldn’t. He instead slid on the floor, phone grasped in his hand, arms wrapped around his coat that he hurriedly put on in the rush to see him.
He had waited ten years to hear Harry’s voice again.
" W a k e up, "he whispers.
She moves at the sound of his voice. He smiles.
"Take my hand.
Give me a reason to start again. "
Give me a reason
to go with you. εїз
