She had been in the market when she thought she had glimpsed him the first time. But after searching around the stalls, peering around each of the corners, she’d seen nothing and had to tell herself she’d imagined it. Maybe it was grief; she’d seen Billy everywhere after he died, and it had been little more than a year since then, so maybe she....but why would she imagine him? Why would losing Billy, why would that grief make her imagine someone she’d known thousands of years ago?
Maybe she was just going mad. Or needed some sleep. Or...who knows.
She decided to put it out of her mind, putting it down to a brief, weird moment, and had almost forgotten it entirely, when it happened again. Only this time she moved a wee bit faster through the streets, following through determinedly, turning this way and that, keeping him in sight, wherever the hell he was going, until eventually she caught up. She reached out and put a hand on his shoulder, turning him around, half expecting to be wrong, that she was going to be making a bit of an embarrassing apology to a complete stranger. But she wasn’t. Wrong, that is. She was right.
Okay, so it had been a long time, and being mortal meant her angel senses weren’t exactly as on point as they were, but she could still recognise them easily enough, especially ones she knew, or had known.
“Oh my God, it is you,” She stated simply, shocked despite her suspicions all along.
