( rick ) cont’d:
It was hard leaving Maggie at Hilltop today, but it wasn’t like she couldn’t go back. Beth loved helping the people of her sister’s community, even when she found herself with nothing to do, she always found comfort in lending a hand. The young blonde also knew that as of late, her sister and Rick’s relationship wasn’t as it used to be - they were no longer seeing eye to eye because Negan had been kept prisoner in the cell under the Grimes’ home.
Beth was tired of the killing, so even though she understood her sister’s pain in what happened to Glenn, she was also grateful that Rick had shown his worst enemy mercy.
After Rick had visited Hilltop that day, Beth pleaded with Maggie to let her take Hershel to see her other family in Alexandria. Of course, Maggie gave in and allowed her sister to bring her son to spend the day with Carl and Judith and the others.
She’d only come to Alexandria for a day or two, just to see everyone because she did indeed miss them dearly. Especially Judith, Rick and Carl. And Rick was nice enough to insist she stay in their guest bedroom for the nights until she went back to Hilltop. Showing her appreciation for his decision, Beth cooked them dinner, and now after dinner while Hershel and Judith played together on the living room floor, Beth sat on the couch with Rick, amazed that she even found herself curling up against his side.
Beth kicked off her cowgirl boots and brought her knees to her chest, pressing her head against Rick’s shoulder while she watched the children playing. It came as a surprise when she felt Rick’s arm draping over her shoulders, keeping her close - causing a flutter in her heart as she felt his arm on her arm. Her breath hitched in her throat as she leaned into him more, her eyes softly closing. “I missed seein’ everyone.” She whispered, her heart beating rapidly.
