˟ ▀ the daily grind .
everyone has been tittering in excitement when she passes them in the halls, but jei just keeps to herself.
lately, she’s just been going through the motions. it’s just that the motions now include a whole entire schedule that she isn’t used to. a three a.m. wakeup call when she’s not a morning person. an entire day’s worth of training. driving back to her place late at night for a few hours of sleep only so she can do it all again the next. if this were jei at any other time in her life, she’d hate it. the daily grind of a monotonous schedule isn’t usually something that she enjoys, but right now, all she wants is something to do. monotony perhaps, is better for her right now than something that’s dynamic.
jei though, is someone who notices a lot when she seemingly doesn’t. it’s hard not to notice the faces of the same few girls being displayed throughout the halls of trc, even harder when the same teaser plays on a loop with music videos of senior artists on tvs that hang around sparsely. so when a girl sits down right across from her at lunch, it’s hard not to see that she’s part of the girl group that trc is spending top dollar on.
she doesn’t really respond, just blinks at her slowly. “ ... hi, sunbae.” the greeting comes a half beat late considering the confusion. she tucks her hair back behind her ear, tilting her head to the side just slightly, trying to remember which of the girls is sitting across from her now. chojin, she thinks is the girl’s stage name. jei doesn’t know her real name yet. “ can i help you?”
