The events that unfolded on the First had left Meiko with a lot on her mind. She hadn't spent years there like the Scions and her brother had, but it was impossible not to feel changed by all that unfolded. It was a good change, ultimately, and yet there was a relief that washed over her upon resettling back home in the Source.
Outside of the Eorzean Alliance's leaders, no one knew that Meiko also possessed Hyadelyn's Blessing. They only knew her as the sister to the Warrior of Light, Eorzea's Champion, and a fellow Scion who possessed the Echo as well. There was a reprieve granted by that moderate anonyminity, although she was not opposed to owning up to her role if push came to shove.
Really, though, she hoped that it wouldn't. If people started to address her as the Warrior Of Light or any other similar title as oft as they did A'kihiko, she would probably throw herself into the depths of the Rhotano. Being the Warrior of Darkness had more than fulfilled her tolerance for being held with so much reverence and prestige for multiple lifetimes.
And although the nonsense with the Forum was frustrating, Meiko was relieved to simply have room to breathe and idle around Old Sharlayan -- to think and do her best to put the threat of the Telophoroi out of her mind for a moment. Fray had done well to teach her the importance of meditation, all grim-dark chanting aside; being anxious would not do her any good in this present scenario.
It was while she was sitting not far from the Leveilleur Mansion that the sight of a fellow Viera caught her interest. Upon reflection, she realized that people like her war far more common here than they were in Eorzea. Back on the First, walking into Fannow and filled Meiko with both awe and melancholy. She had never truly known another Viera; the few she had met were only brushed in passing, or addressed in a strictly business (dangerous) setting. There had never been time to ask questions.
Perhaps now she could make that time...?
"Aye, is there...a book on, uh," It was a wee bit easier for her to address a mammet, rather than a living breathing librarian that could judge her, but still Meiko struggled what to ask. "Somethin' like Viera...culture?"
Despite not being very fond of reading herself, she couldn't think of a better place to look up this sort of thing but the Studium. It had so many bloody shelves, that surely it had something about Vierakind there, right?
"CeRtAinLy. YoU cAn fINd sUcH TexTs oN tHe thIrD leVeL bElOw uS oN tHe toP-mOSt ShElVeS mArkED wItH GrEeN sYmBoLs," The mammet intoned. "wOuLd yOu LiKe An eScOrT?"
"Oh, no -- no, thank you," Meiko thanked the creature and immediately went on her way. An escort? Did she really look so cluelessly? Probably. But at least since Viera were more common here, most people probably wouldn't notice as easily when she felt out of place.
She headed down to the appropriate floor and searched for the section, finally coming to a stop before the shelf that she believed to be the right one.
"Fuck," she muttered under her breath. The shelf wasn't too tall, but it was definitely far wider than she anticipated. How was anyone supposed to know where to start?! "Maybe I did need an escort."
Was it rude to just start pulling the books off the shelf? Maybe she should have consulted G'raha or Alphinaud about proper etiquette before coming here...
