Bonding
“My dear Omniscient, you called for me?” Rex asked entering the dark room, only it was lit by a little blue flame that sat atop a little circular table. “That is correct, I wish to inquire about some things father has informed me about.” The being, Omniscient, answered quietly, carefully pushing out the chair to the right of them, As Rex sat down, Omniscient slid over a tea cup to Rex, taking a sip from their own cup. “Oh, sister, your hair, it has colors in it now, It looks wonderful.” “You noticed, why thank you! Since I've been relocated to the upper three, because you and Father refuse to help me, I’ve gotten quite fond of King Minos’ work in lust. Isn't the pink and blue quite flattering?” Rex asked to which Omniscient nodded politely before the air seemed to become stale after their conversation.
“Sister, I'm sorry–” “Don’t start with me, your fear is not an excuse for your inaction, so continue with the questions you had for me.” Rex interrupted raising her hand to stop Omniscient from speaking. “Right… So Father has informed me that you have made contact with that new machine, is this true?” Omniscient asked, to which Rex smiled warmly, nodding, “That is indeed true, my sweet kin. I have made contact, in fact, I have a deal with it.” Rex confirmed, her finger starting to trace the rim of the teacup. “A deal… I assume it's about little brother's recent actions, am I right?” Rex simply nodded, not clarifying the details of that deal.
For a moment the two just stayed in silence, Omniscient sipping their tea and Rex’s finger still running over the rim absentmindedly, the tension was clearly there between them, an unspoken unresolved problem between the two. “Well Omniscient, would you do me a favor before I take leave?” Rex asked, to which Omniscient nodded, “Do me a favor and use those eyes father has blessed you with and find that machine for me.” Omniscient rolled their eyes before obliging, it only took a short moment before Omniscient had found him. “It’s in Greed, sister, it seems as it has killed that V2 machine,” Omniscient said, their fist tightening slightly. “Mm unfortunate for you I suppose, sorry for the loss, but I shall be departing now. Goodbye, Omniscient,” Rex said, standing up from the table bowing slightly before leaving.
Wrath — the fifth layer, just beneath Greed — was her next destination, because that's where V1 would be after greed. But after going through the four sublayers of wrath, the murderous machine was nowhere to be found, Even Omniscient’s sight had failed.. But now Rex finds herself wandering throughout the first sublevel of wrath because that's where the usual bloodbath trail abruptly ended. That thing couldn’t be dead. It had defeated V2 twice. Slain King Minos. Forced the great Archangel Gabriel into retreat. So where the hell was it? So despite the fact that Rex felt like she was going crazy she decided to look around the sublayer once more, and well near the elevator that leads down she noticed in the tall pillar that there was a vent busted open, which was new.
So once reaching the vent she bent down to look in it, finding that there was a room on the other end and it almost looked like there was an elevator at the end. With a snap of her fingers, she flicked herself forward — and immediately realized she had misjudged the distance. She materialized over empty air. “Fuck.” Then she was falling.
