Sam wiggled in her new outfit, trying hard to stifle her happy giggle with her hand. She couldn’t believe this! Someone actually thought SHE could be a spy! Someone looked at HER and actually CHOOSE her to help THEM, not the other way around, like with the turtles. She didn’t have to beg to be noticed, to be given a chance (ok, maybe she did a LITTLE begging), someone actually saw potential in her. It was enough for her to wanna…do a victory dance! Or march right up to the turtles with a big grin and tell Donnie she was a NINJA now! A ninja SPY! Then he’d train her and she’d be on their team, and she’d actually be on a superhero TEAM and get to go on awesome ninja missions like….maybe defeat an evil ninja clan like in the movies! She was unable to hide the happy squeal that erupted from her mouth as she imagined herself hiding in the shadows of some spooky, old building, leaping out and defeating the ninjas guarding the door to the supreme evil leader of the ninja clan. She clamped her other hand over her mouth as her giggles grew. It would be so awesome! She would be Donnie’s best ninja student ever! He would see! But first…
She straightened herself up, coughing in her hand to calm herself as she attempted a serious demeanor, her mouth in a tight line that she hoped emitted an air of heroic authority. They said the Shredder (that was a pretty cool name for a ninja she had to admit, if a little…well…villainous sounding. But, it would send any bad guy screaming in terror, she supposed) wanted to meet all the recruits personally. He probably wanted to give them all some cool mission, so she had to make a good first impression and show she was a dedicated ninja student. Unable to keep her mouth from upturning into a small smile, she pushed open the huge, imposing doors.
It was if a chill in the air made her freeze, sending all the joy she had felt out and leaving a cold pit in her stomach. She looked over with wide eyes at the man sitting on the high throne. The whole place had the feel of a villainous lair from a Saturday morning cartoon, and the metal the Shredder (she guessed that explained the name), didn’t help. She stared with wide-eyes for a couple of seconds, unable to make a single sound but a small gulp that seemed to echo through the room. She shivered (and not because she was scared, it was just COLD….even though she was wearing her Pulverizer outfit underneath), as she gazed up the throne.
Say something, dummy! She berated herself. Clearing her throat, she held out her hand. “Uh-hey! I’m uh-the Pul-um…I mean…uh…” Wait, this wasn’t what they did in the movies! Ninjas bowed, not shook hands! With a sheepish smile, she put her hands together, bowing the deep bow she saw in the movies she loved. “I mean, uh…” she looked up, “I’m Samantha…the new recruit!” trying to show some confidence, she raised her voice, giving the man a grin.
