send me ‘✂’ and my muse will kill yours. right now. brutally, horribly, bloody. just do it.
it seemed like ages ago that zombies were used as simply a nightmare in a movie. a discussion topic filled with questions of what if. what if a zombie apocalypse happened ? they would all laugh in response. flash forward and you could replace that what if with WHY. why did this happened ? what can we do to stop it ? and where are your loved ones ?welcome to new york, 2030.
karai had found donatello a few weeks ago. the two of them taking comfort in a familiar face and leaning on each other for support in the terrifying world they attempted to survive in. she hadn’t remembered the last time she laughed since finding him again. yet somehow, among the darkness that surrounded them, they found time to smile with one another. finding donatello was a saving grace she would always be thankful for.
“ don’t be too long. you know we agreed not to go out at night. ”
she scolded him but he waved it off. assuring her he’d only take a minute to grab the backpack he had left outside. she hesitated but allowed him to go. what are the odds a zombie would show up just as he exited their shelter ?
a moment of silence before it was broken by a sudden pained grunt from donatello. her eyes immediately grew wide with shock as she raced out to find him. the bite wound was the first thing her eyes connected with. a very large chunk of his right arm had been completely ripped out of his flesh; bloody tissue exposing his muscles that laid beneath. he gripped his arm tightly and karai turned her attention toward the zombie that had inflicted the wound. she swung an ax at his head, chopping his head clean from his shoulders, the rotten flesh smell nauseating her senses.
“ don’t worry don we’ll get that patched up. maybe you can use some sort of anti- ”
suddenly, a hand grabbed her arm and attempted to bite her own flesh. she was horrified to find donatello as the attacker.
“ no no no, donnie please ! don’t make me do this. ”
she pleaded with him, but the look in his eyes proved to her that the attempt was hopeless.
“ donnie. STOP. what are you doing ? it’s me, karai, donnie. ”
she ripped her arm from his grasp and watched with a horrified expression as he moaned nonsense, and thrashed around violently. the color in his skin was quickly fading as the transformation seemed to overcome him at an agonizingly rapid speed. she fled into their shelter, trying to collect her thoughts. she knew what she had to do .. but how could she get herself to do it ?
it took him only a matter of seconds before he slammed his body into the door, bursting it open, and charging in her direction. “ i’m so sorry. ”
his mouth aimed right for her neck and she immediately swung her ax to connect with his chest, watching his crazed eyes bulge out before shutting forever. a few deep, panicked breaths escaped her lips, and as she stared at the bloody corpse she created she noticed he had grabbed the backpack on his way in. that damned backpack - what could he have possibly been needing so badly ?
hidden inside was the shape of a knife wrapped in old, muddy magazines and a small note attached simply read:
