Waterberg Academy Student Accepted to Yale
First Time a Student From Limpopo Province in South Africa Has Been Accepted Into the Prestigious School.
Vaalwater, Limpopo, South Africa – December 16, 2017: Waterberg Academy is pleased to announce its latest success story as it continues to educate today’s youth. The private school has just produced its first student to be accepted into Yale University in the United States. This comes as around 100,000 people apply for admission into Yale every year but only around 1,500 of those people actually get in. This makes it one of the more selective schools in the world.
Rachel Calcott was accepted into Yale and will begin her studies there in September 2018. She graduated from Waterberg in 2016.
Rachel is excited to be attending one of the world’s most prominent universities. She was among the top students in her class and focuses mainly on the sciences. She was among the best in her class in life sciences and life orientation. She also studied in the school’s Advanced Programme English course. Calcott has also represented many athletic programs offered by the school.
Waterberg Academy has been working to educate the youth of Limpopo, South Africa since 2003. This English Medium independent school was formed in the UNESCO Waterberg Biosphere Reserve outside the Limpopo town of Vaalwater.
The school focuses on top-tier education for the state’s most gifted and talented students. It also concentrates heavily on environmental and social responsibility with the goal of helping students to respect the planet and to be protective of it.
The efforts that Waterberg Academy puts into helping its students thrive and succeed are vital to its general operation. Waterberg concentrates on helping students to perform well socially, academically and athletically.
The school is also situated around much of the indigenous Waterberg mountain bushveld. It is located in a beautiful and carefully preserved region. This region encourages students to think responsibly and helps them to become better stewards of the planet.
Additional information on the Waterberg Academy and about admissions into the school and other stories surrounding the institution can be found online at www.waterbergacademy.co.za.
The school is located about two hours north of Pretoria. Courses are available for students from grades 00 to 12. Boarding services are available with sibling discounts available on boarding fees.

Out picking up various bits of kit we've been leaving out overnight yesterday morning and met this fella. He seems to be the main bull in this area, but isn't too fussed by us wandering around in his turf thankfully! Early mornings and late nights at the mo, but what a beautiful country #travel #southafrica #giraffe #bull #nature #naturelovers #vaalwater #explore #adventure #neverstop exploring
