And the Beauty Sleeps
The travel from the Royal Exchange to the Spire was treacherous for her. Elenaris stumbled and trudged her way, step by step all the while holding onto Alexandral's arm for dear life. He guided her through the streets, keeping his eyes watchful on her with worry.
She did her best to hold her head lifted, not wanting to seem weak and fragile to those around her. She felt absolutely embarassed for acting as she had in front of Lady Sunhawk and her new recruit.
As they walked, the figures they passed were blurred and her breathing became heavier and heavier. Sweat seeped through her light skin but she fought to make it to the Spire. And as they pushed through the door, she collapsed.
Alexandral reacted quickly, his arms catching her and saving her from the fall. The Sentries that had been standing at their posts dashed forward only to be stopped by their Lord's glare. He placed an arm under her neck and just above her knees, hoisting her slender frame from the floor as he rushed toward the Wintersun wing of the Spire where she had recently taken partial residence.
Servants gawked and gasped, whispers began as they passed. Coming to her chambers, Alexandral pushed open the door with his foot and brought her to the large bed that sat within. His eyes moved over her in worry as he took notice of her paleness. He called for the servants to bring pitchers of water and to alert a priest to join them as soon as possible.
As the servants brought the water, Alexandral took the cloth that sat on her nightstand and dipped it into the water. He wrung it slightly before dabbing it to her forehead and cheeks.
He was unsure of what ailed her, but it was no normal illness. As he looked her over once more, his eyes stopped to notice the bandage that covered her palm. Gently he pulled it away, revealing a cut that glowed with the light green of magic.
His worry grew into anger as he looked back up to her face, though she looked peaceful... she truly looked dead.
With a deep inhale, pushing back his snarl, he leaned forward to place a gentle kiss on her forehead.
"Hang in there, Elenaris... I am not loosing you."
Alexandral pushed himself from the bed and made his way for the door.
"Be sure to dress her comfortably before the priest arrives, and see that I am called once he does." He snapped orders to the servants that stood before him in the doorway. They would nervously nod to him and move to undress the lady once he left the chambers.
Now he must seek out all those who were with her the past few days, and once he found out who had done this, they would feel the his fury that slowly began to build up inside of him.
