Tuesday August 21st
9:00am -- Last day here, and we’re going hiking up at Kejimkujik National Park, which is about 45 minutes away. We stop in town and get some traditional cornish pasties for breakfast, and eat them on the drive to the park.
12:30pm -- We did a few trails, saw some lakes and now I’m starving. We stop at the eatery and get a hamburger, onion rings, fries and chicken tenders. Boyf pays.
2:00pm -- Stop at the visitor center on the way out of the park to look for t shirts, but can’t find anything we like or anything smaller than a L.
3:00pm -- Stop at the country store for some ice cream. Don’t get ice cream, but wind up with several bags of chips in strange Canadian flavors. ($17.14) We also stop in town on the way to take pictures of some gravestones, and some of the historic houses. I stop by a shop and get a stuffed whale with the Annapolis Royal Tartan. ($26.90)
4:00pm -- Stop back by the house to pick up my mom and all the ingredients for dinner on the way to The Camp. We go to the grocery store on the way out, and my mom and boyf have a rousing discussion on working for money vs working for purpose, fueled by Amazon warehouse workers.
5:45pm -- Boyf goes in a canoe for the first time, and pretends to help paddle while I move us around the lake.
8:00pm -- My Cousin and Aunt finally arrive and we eat a dinner of mussels, tortellini, bread and salad. It was supposed to be tortellini OR mussels, but almost everyone wound up eating both. There’s blueberry pie for dessert.
9:30pm -- We all say our goodbyes and head out to pack and sleep. There’s a porcupine on the road on the way home (yay wildlife!)
