I had some succulents die but I was able to save a pup and some leaves, two of the leaves from one seem to be growing roots and I can’t tell what the pup is doing. Do you think the leaves are big enough to start watering or should I keep letting them grow? Should I leave the pup alone for a while longer? Thank you for your advice! Your blog has been great for helping me get into plant care!
SuccyGirl:
The leaves you could probably start giving water to now. I'd just lay them on some soil and maybe moisten the top of the soil a bit to encourage them to go down toward it. They dont need very much attention, I'd check on them in a week and hopefully the roots shoot be in or almost into the soil, then give them another drink.
The pup deffo doesnt need anything right now. I'd pull off a few of those bottom leaves, just 2 or 3, because that where the roots are going to come from. You can leave it out longer and wait for the roots to come before you plant it, or stick it in some soil and just wait for it there. Keep it dry whatever you do. If the end keeps shriveling further up the stem you'll want to chop it above it again but hopfully it will just stop on it's own. I can't tell if its rotting or just normal shriveling that stems sometimes do after you cut them, so just keep an eye on it.
