When was the last time I came here? Not so busy but too many photos I have, I can not decide whether to write about. Almost 10 years have passed since I met “bead”. Actually that is Empowerment set by Trollbeads. They were enough to fill my heart and I was enchanted with some well known bead brand. As time goes by, I had learned there are so many handmade glass bead artist over the world. It’s a great fun of my life to find beautiful glass and fabulous designs at handmade shop like Etsy, I am enjoying to order only for me these days.
Today here brings one of my favorite bead, “Filigrana” made by Aldo Giannone. He is a great glass bead maker in Italy, shop owner of “VAGBEADS” at Etsy. If you have a Facebook account, you can see fantastic beads in his group page. Of course, all beads are with silver cored and fit for European style bracelet.
The filigrana style is originated on the island of Murano, one of the oldest traditional processes already in use in 16 Century. All the most important Murano glass factories use this technique that lends itself admirably to an extensive range of decorative solutions.
As you know, it seems sensitive line drawing spiral and base color has glitters. Materials is Murano glass of his home, best place.
I have no way of knowing how to make this fragile glass bead, must be having a special technique by himself. I was fascinated with this pink filigrana at a glance, ordered some colors the day after.
“Sky is the limit”. Inspired by the sky of May. I usually put the name on bracelet setting new.
Light blue filigrana between Opposite and Wings of Freedom, Trollbeads.
“Blue Spiral”. Deep blue filigrana thought ink color. The wonder is that same color as cat figurine! Actually this is the souvenir from Italy long long ago.
I admired him for his work that’s why traditional technique still lives on beads of the world. Another beads he made are fascinating as well. I always feel Italian wind from far away.
Last of all… “filigrana” sounds good for me, very match for this bead. Love!
