6 months ago, Billy Hargrove moved to the little shitstain that Hawkins is on the world map, so far removed from everything else that if you were to ask Google Maps for directions, it would say, “Are you sure?”
He had been swift and merciless in defeating the reigning Keg King Steve - not that the trust fund kid had really put up much of a fight, what with Nancy Wheeler breaking his heart just the same night as his dethroning of his keg-stand record, leaving Harrington with very little willpower to truly struggle for the crown.
5 months ago, Billy Hargrove made his first successful move on Steve; cornering him at one of Tommy Hagan’s parties which Harrington had been invited to mostly out of pity, but also out of interest.
It didn’t take a lot of convincing really, once Steve realised that Billy was serious when he called him a pretty boy, said that green is a good color on him, or that he has a sweet ass, but then again, Steve’s not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed, that much he knows. So with too little alcohol in his system and a lot of wrecked nerves, he found himself in the back of a blue camaro.
4 months ago, Billy Hargrove punched Steve for the first time, after finding him cozying up with Tammy Thompson, of all people, at some post-game party celebrating their basketball victory against the Delphi Oracles.
At first it was just a bit of seemingly friendly banter, although everyone knows how Tammy has had her eyes set on Steve Harrington for forever, so perhaps she giggled a bit louder than necessary and touched his arm one too many times, but Billy couldn’t stop staring. And when he asked Steve about it, the pretty boy was as oblivious as ever, never even saw the fist coming, and honestly that did put a bit of a strain on their “friendship”.
3 months ago, Billy Hargrove lied to Steve about why he had seen it fit to give him a black eye; blamed it on adrenaline from winning, the alcohol in his system, and anger from home, which wasn’t a complete lie there.
With the promise of above average weed and an “honest” apology, Steve got lured out to the quarry at night, and it was fucking cold, what were Billy even thinking, but when he slid into the backseat, Steve followed all too easily with no need for persuasion, as they hotboxed the BMW and tied the knot on their reconciliation with a stellar blowjob.
2 months ago, Billy Hargrove showed up to the Harrington manor with way too much beer for the two of them, but it was necessary for him to finally let go and tell the truth about a few things that most people don’t know.
Whenever Steve finished one can, Billy had finished two, and yet neither of them saw fit to mention that they seem to be drinking a lot more than usual lately. But that night Hargrove was drinking like his life depended on it, and it felt like it too, because there was a constant pain in his heart, an aching in his soul, and he needed a good fair share of liquid courage to finally tell the other how he truly feels.
1 month ago, Billy Hargrove bought freaking flowers and chocolates like it was Valentine’s, and showed up on Steve’s doorstep all too early in the day, and told him to get dressed, pretty boy, we’re going on a date.
Together in the camaro they drove to Indianapolis; far away enough that no one they knew would see them smiling and laughing, hands brushing with the desire to hold each other, but Billy’s not there yet. They spent the entire day walking and talking, uninterrupted by the usual craving of flesh whenever they’re alone, and it was nice, it was good, it was a first step.
