I hate seeing all these posts talking about “well this thing is going to be really bad and terrible and also shouldn’t be supported in any way… but I’ll still financially support it anyway because [reason]” Like can you guys start voting with your wallets??? Please?? You do not have to consume all media even if your favorite IP is tied to it. Hatewatching still encourages the slop you hate. The companies are still getting money. You’re still helping them succeed. It doesn’t matter what you actually think about it because paying for it tells them to make more. If you absolutely feel the need to consume it but not support it, SAIL THE SEVEN SEAS. Stop giving your money to things you hate and want to see less of, especially when it’s objectively bad (i.e. ai slop, shitty soulless reboots, funds something atrocious, etc.). Why is this such a hard concept for so many people to adhere to??

I love being in a fandom but then having half of the people in it blocked. Makes for a very interesting experience.

I’ve noticed a recent trend of people being like “Waaaaaah entitled purist!” And the so called purist/elitist is just someone who knows what they’re talking about and cares about it.

I honestly think that this sentiment of “let people enjoy things”/“just enjoy stuff more” is why media literacy is so dead. If thinking critically about a thing you like sours the enjoyment for you, then maybe you never liked it much in the first place and it only served to stimulate you without any real substance. There’s a reason why we learn this shit in english/reading/equivalent classes. Critical thinking and analysis is a very important part of media consumption.

Does anyone else see other people’s ocs online, especially if they’re made for the same fandom, and think “oh they should have a playdate with my oc! They would get along so well!”
