Did anyone ask for an ankle update? No? Too bad!

So, I had my follow up appointment this past Thursday, got some X-rays and my cast off. Didn't quite get the good news I was hoping for.

Instead of healing, the bone they put in place with a screw broke again. It's a pretty tiny bone, so that's not good. Turns out it's one of the three bones you need to have a functioning ankle! Because of a vital tendon. So that's exciting. As well, there was an issue with another bone around my Achilles area. Which is bone 2 of 3 that one needs to have a functioning ankle.

So, got myself added on the emergency board for new surgery. Got a call at 6:30 this evening, and for fixed up.

As a bonus, the surgeon said I had suffered some kind of injury in my past, and as a result my Achilles was so tight, he was shocked I could walk with it. So he did some work to loosen it up.

So, back to square one. I have a follow up in 2 weeks, hopefully things will work this time. Fingers crossed.

Got my cast upgraded yesterday. Exciting times.

I'm looking at surgery in the next week or so. 2 incisions total. The red section is just broken off, that needs to be reattached. The blue section is fractured and separated, so that'll be getting pulled together with a plate and some screws.

Have some physio and whatnot in my future. Should be back to normal in a year. Good times.

Favorite Author: For prose it'd be Terry Pratchett. Deeply funny, deeply compassionate, you can feel the anger steaming off of the page at times, despite his novels being humor fantasy. For comics, all time I guess I'd give to Jonathan Hickman for his long ass runs on Fantastic Four, and his Avengers/Secret War run, or Simon Hanselmann for all the Megg and Mogg shit. Especially Crisis Zone. That strip running on Instagram helped keep my sanity rolling during the beginning of the pandemic.
