In this series of Vainglory videos I’m going to have some fun and maybe piss off a few people… well hopefully not piss anyone off. No matter what, I will try my best to win even though I may try some questionable or different builds for SAW but that’s the point of casual queue, experimentation.

I had some haters on my previous SAW video, which is fine because I'm not the greatest SAW player. SAW to me it simply fun to play and super annoying to play against. The fun part about playing SAW in casual games is you can tryout some different builds and in general just practice. For me I love that everyone knows how SAW is gonna play and because of that the enemy tries to shut him down and your allies are trying their best to keep you alive.

I love the captain role in Vainglory! Since the release of update 2.0 you have so much responsibility for your team. If things go wrong it's your fault but if they go right you are the true hero. If you’re lucky your team will listen to you, follow up and engage when you’re ready.

Right now Lance is a top pick and I don't see that changing anytime soon. Lance’s early damage combined with his large health pool makes him a threat. If you’re able to land a few good impales in the early game, your team will have the ability to snowball into the win. Although his stun isn't as easy to land as Catherine’s Merciless Pursuit, just the fact that you can stun multiple enemies at once is amazing. If you can get good landing skill shots in any MOBA you’ll often have better luck at becoming a great player.

I hope everyone’s New Year is off to a great start, on and off the Halcyon Fold. Since it's been the holidays, there hasn’t been a ton of news the last couple weeks, it’s been very, very light but I'm sure we're about to see a lot of things soon. So this episode is a little shorter than previous episodes but there is still some fun things to talk about. To help me discuss everything Vainglory, I'm joined by TinyxDestiny.

I love games that really mess up your groove. When someone on your team or the enemy team decides to do something that is way out of the norm, it's often hard to figure out how you should be playing. Also when you're up against it, you can do something foolish that makes you look back and wonder what you were thinking.

In this game we had it won pretty early but then being a little over confident we went ham and it nearly backfired. Luckily our Gwen was able to start hitting like a truck and captain Flicker added a bit more utility to the team then captain Ringo.

Samuel isn’t really in the 2.0 meta but he can still be a lot of fun to play. With how mobile you need to be in the jungle at the moment I can see how Samuel would make a better choice in some cases when you’re looking to pick up a crystal jungle carry. When the enemy team decides to chase you into your own jungle and you land an ultimate on them with your crystal miner whaling on them, you know you’re gonna win that fight.

The support / roam role or rather now the captain role in Vainglory update 2.0 is incredibly important and playing it correctly can often be challenging. With the release of update 2.0, Flicker received a bit of a nerf to his abilities but that doesn't mean he still isn't a deadly threat. Just having a Flicker or any hero that can go invisible on either side of the team makes for a very frustrating game. If the enemy team is always worried about what you're doing it allows your carries to really kick out the damage.

Because of that slight nerf to Flickers slow I like tossing a shiversteel on him now to really annoy the crap out of the other team.

Starting with two items in lane in Vainglory update 2.0 makes SAW a pretty deadly force if you can get a quick kill in lane. But, because there is no jungle shop now you'll quickly get ganked from the other jungle duo and because you're SAW they know this is the only way to shut down SAW.

This game went way longer then it should have. Having someone like Taka that can jump on you as SAW makes it very, very difficult to pull ahead in team fights. Lucky enough me and my teammates some how picked up a win and I even got to test out the new Poisoned Shiv item on SAW.

Update 2.0 gave us another new hero; Idris. Idris joins the Halcyon Fold with some very interesting mechanics, whether you’re looking to play him crystal power or weapon power. I typically post mostly ranked matches here on the channel but when a new hero comes out I like to test him out for a few games in casual mode. There is no reason to put my teammates through that learning curve and you need it when you start to learn Idris.

I went with the crystal path in this game because I liked the longer ranged basic attacks. Since I’m still learning and I know many others are too, I don’t know if this is the best build path but it worked out for me in this game. Or maybe my fellow GankStars member just carried me to victory...
