This picture is based off a conversation between @choisgirls and I. So! What do I do? Write a fic to go with it. Hope you enjoy!!

The day had been pretty normal. Nothing had been different, Hailey and Saeran were bickering as per usual, Vanderwood was being grumpy, and me? I was bouncing between mediator and instigator. Poking fun at the three was always fun, obviously it was purely for fun and never harsh.
With Saeran I would tease him about his tsundere attitude towards Hailey, and with Vanderwood? I would shameless flirt just to get a reaction from them, many times it ended up back firing though. But, my favorite person to mess with was Hailey, this girl refused to see how amazing she was so, what does any best friend do? I murder her with compliments on the reg.
It was our daily compliment fight that started it all, we were shouting compliments and fighting words at each other. And once again, Hailey wouldn’t admit that she was cute as fuck, so, I pull out the big guns. Saeran.
“SAERAN COME DEAL WITH YOUR GIRL! SHE WON’T ACCEPT THAT SHE’S CUTE!” I yell, while pointing at the person refusing to see reason.
“WHAT THE FUCK, FAITH? You can’t sick Saeran on me!” Hailey flails as she looks for a hiding spot.
“I just did! Saeran! Tell her! She’s cute!” Saeran simply folds his arms across his chest and glares, unamused.
“Saeran! NO!” Hailey dives under the kitchen table.
“VANDERWOOD! STOP HER!” Hailey, is pointing at me ,while curled under the table.
“VANDERWOOD WON’T DO SHIT!” I shout, glancing quickly at them before flinching slightly. Shit.
“What was that, Faith?” They say, quirked eyebrow and all. I gasp dramatically. I reach down and pull on Hailey’s arm.
“Babe, you gotta save me. They’re going to tase me.” I try and pull Hailey out but she refuses to budge.
“You brought this on your self, idiot.” Saeran says. I scowl at him and he scoffs. I continue to pull on Hailey’s arm.
“Ah… come out please.” Hailey just shakes her head.
“NO I LIVE HERE NOW!” She moves farther under the table, much to my dismay.
“Hailey please! I need help!” I continue to try and pull her out. I can feel the boys stares on my back, raising the hairs there. Fuck.
“Hey, is there…. Is there room in there for one more?” I whisper, glancing between Hailey and the two men. Hailey beams and pats the floor next to her. I dive under, half hiding behind her and glaring at the others.
“Faith, we should make a fort.” She laughs and we both dart out from underneath the table. We collect as many blankets, and pillows, and snacks as we can find.
We hastily throw a blanket on top the table, as well as pile the rest underneath along with the pillows and snacks. We look at each and grin. Nodding, I dart out once more. I come back with a marker and cardboard and hand it Hailey, she quickly writes out what we silently agreed upon and hands it to me. Grinning I hold up our new sign
NO BOYZ
Both Hailey and I burst into uncontrollable laughter at the look on our boy’s faces. Hailey and I stayed under the table for the rest of the day, snuggling, eating snacks and watch anime on a laptop. And the boys? They just glared at us from across the room.
That was, until Saeran had enough and dragged Hailey out. Apparently, the little edgelord was getting a wee bit jealous. Both of them are so cute.
I glance over and see Vanderwood still sitting on the couch, arms folded, staring at me. They smirk and I flush. Shit. They stride over and squat down so that we are eye level.
“What was it that you said, Faith?” Welp. I guess both Hailey and I learned our lesson that day.
This one is for @a-mess-of-a-princess , who is a new friend of mine. A good pal, a salty buddy, always willing to talk buddy. Also as a kind of apology for getting you into 17 with me im not sorry about that at all lmao
I hope you enjoy!!! I love you!!💛
[ Word Count: 1589 | Prompt: The world is in black and white until you meet your soulmate. ]
“No visible marks, no countdown, no response if skin is written on,” the figure looming above them read off from a checklist. They still couldn't tell anything about the figure. Even their voice sounded like a robot. Interesting. “There's only one more test before we can let you through.” They said. The test they had been preparing for.
Joining this agency was the wrong move, they knew that. But getting off the map was the only way to survive. And they could do that here, as long as they passed this test…
“What color is this?” The figure spoke, holding up a picture. It was of a person they had never seen before, and they were pointing at the person’s hair.
There was no hesitation. “They're blonde.” The figure put the picture away and picked up another, now pointing to the person’s eyes. Again, no hesitation. “Hazel.” Another picture, of a building, the figure pointing to a single letter of a sign. “Red.” Now pointing to a random person’s jacket. “Aqua. Bold choice, if you ask me. With those shoes.”
The figure put the picture down and picked up the clipboard with their checklist again. “Color, check.” They marked a checkmark in the box and looked straight at them. “Agent Vanderwood, welcome to GFX.”
---
Those tests were all fairly simple, but crucial to the recruiting process. Agents were not allowed into the program if they had a soul mark. The agency had begun cracking down on more of the non-visible ones, too. Which is why Vanderwood had to prepare for the test...because they couldn't see colors at all.
It took forever, but with enough practice and one trustworthy colleague, they were able to guess colors by the shade of grey they were. It was excruciating, but worth it.
Who needs color anyways?

707 was going to drive Vanderwood insane. What the hell was he on about? A cult drugging people for the sake of happiness? A hacker better than him but it turned out to be his long lost twin? All because of lover’s quarrel and intense sun imagery? What kind of charity association is this? It sounded like a pipe dream.
“But it's over. And we’re finally going to have our party, so you have to come.” 707 said.
“I don't have to come, 07. I'm not part of this mess.” The responded.
“No, you’re not. But you can join our association.”
Vanderwood let out a laugh, “Absolutely not. You tell me all that, then expect me to join that mess? No way.”
707 leaned back in his chair before kicking his feet up, laying them on his keyboard. “You're gonna want to when we release the information about the agency. And no, you're not going to stop me. I'm not going to be the one to do it. So you either join or you go down with them.”
His tone had that unfamiliar serious to it that only showed up when he was extensively late for a deadline or after they tased him. It was intimidating, rare for 707. All they could say was “...So, the party.”
“Noon, tomorrow. I'll tell V you're coming.” 707 said with a smile, the cheeriness back in his voice. This kid really scared Vanderwood sometimes.
---
The party wasn't actually that bad. There was quite a lot of people as well, considering that their new coordinator had a limited amount of time to invite people. Vanderwood was quite impressed.
They followed Saeyoung’s lead, mainly because they didn’t know anyone else here and was still wary about their agent status, but also because he wanted them to meet V. As much as Vanderwood heard about the guy, they had never met him. It was only fair.
“V!” Saeyoung called out when he was close enough, causing V to turn around. Dang, his hair really was blue. For a second, Vanderwood wondered what it would look like if they could actually see it, instead of the light grey it was, but they chased the thought quickly. Start thinking like that, the thought of finding their soulmate would come with it, and Vanderwood knew it was not the time to worry about that.
“Saeyoung, you look more excited than usual.” V said with a small, almost fatherly smile. “And remember, it’s Jihyun now. Anyways,” He turned to Vanderwood with a smile. “I’m glad to see that you made it, I’ve heard a lot about you.”
Vanderwood managed a smile back at him before shooting Saeyoung a look. “I’m sure it’s not good, but thanks. I’ve heard a lot about you too, in a good way.”
V let out a laugh, “I’m honored. And I hope you consider our offer to join the RFA. The members will be glad to meet you. But for now, enjoy the party. Our coordinator did a wonderful job!” He said. On that last bit, he moved to the side, gesturing towards a woman, her back turned. “Hey, Faith!” V called out, making her turn around.
She walked over, smiling at V. “Yeah? Is something wrong, V?” He shook his head, gesturing to Vanderwood. “I just wanted to introduce you two. Vanderwood, this is Faith - our new coordinator. Faith, this is Vanderwood, Saeyoung’s...partner?”
“Babysitter.” They corrected, earning a slap from Saeyoung that they ignored. “Nice to meet you,” They said extending their hand for Faith to shake while turning to face her. And as soon as their eyes met, Vanderwood froze. They could tell Faith did too.
The first thing they noticed was her eyes. They were...brown. Like, actually brown. Not the grey they were used to distinguishing as brown, but the color. It was the first actual color Vanderwood had seen. And then they took in the rest of the room and people around them.
Everything was colored. They could see just how obnoxiously red Saeyoung’s hair was, how nice these decorations really were, how just...vibrant everything was.
Faith saw the exact same thing. And before they knew it, the two of them were looking around the room, bewildered.
“Uh, guys?” Saeyoung said, snapping both of them out of their amazement. “You okay? You both look like you just realized where you were.”
Vanderwood ignored him, as they tended to do, and looked at Faith with a small smile. “I know I said this already, but it really is a pleasure to meet you.”
Faith smiled at them widely. “Same to you, it's a real pleasure. Are you, uh...joining the RFA?” She asked, hopeful.
Oh yeah, that.
They still weren't sure. Going down with the agency was going to be one big hellhole, but being on the map again…
But Faith also changed things, they realized. They could both see colors now. They were soulmates. And things changed when you found your soulmate. The agency would know.
“I-” they started.
“Yeah, I am.”
---
Faith had her legs propped up on their lap, scrolling through her phone. The chat room, probably. It had become a lot more busy since the first couple parties. And with the holidays coming up, the RFA wanted to have a fundraiser, so it just made them all extra busy. It was nice, though. It felt like they were all a little family.
“Hey,” Faith said, making Vanderwood look over at them from the book they were reading.
“Yes?” They answered, putting their book to the side before grabbing Faith’s legs and pulling her more towards them. It made her smile.
“What's your favorite color?” She asked.
They didn't hesitate, “Brown.”
She say up, raising an eyebrow, “Never heard that one before.”
“What did you expect, purple? It's my aesthetic, hun.”
“No, I mean, that's not something people usually say is their favorite. It's nice, but...why favorite? Out of all colors?”
They looked over at them, thinking for a second. Vanderwood was never exactly good at expressing what they felt, but..it was worth a shot.
“Well, it was the first color I ever saw. It’s the color of your eyes. The color of my soulmate. It reminds me of the day I met you and how the world literally changed. And it might seem weird that it's my favorite color, but it holds a lot of importance to me.”
There was a moment of silence before Faith could muster up words. “Wow, I-”
“Don't tell anyone I said that.” Vanderwood said, now blushing and attempting to hide their face. It made Fauth laugh and lean forward, pressing a kiss onto their shoulder.
“I won't, don't worry. That was really sweet, thank you…”
“No need to thank me. You’re the one that made me see it, after all.” Vanderwood said, still attempting to hide their face.
“Yeah, well, same to you. It's the first color I saw, too. And now it's just...comforting. It feels like home.”
Home. Vanderwood never had much of an opinion on that word before. It never meant anything because they never had one. It was all just running and trying to survive, but now...now they were part of an organization that wasn’t out to kill them upon first mistake and they were sitting with their soulmate.
It felt like home. The word had meaning now. But all they could manage to say was, “Exactly. It’s safe, comforting..”
Vanderwood finally showed their face, but only to quickly turn and give Faith a kiss on the forehead, one because they felt like it and two because they wanted to see them blush when they said, “It’s you.”
Can I have Vaith with the prompt "Those aren't chickens, they're birds!'? Excited to see what you come up with 👀 —Yuu
Ngl… this was based loosely off a true story. I fucking hate chicken.
Fic under the cut because it is kinda long
I fucking hatechickens. Everyone who knows me, knows my fiery burning hatred for those wingedbeasts. The only time I like them, is after they have met my skillet, and arelaying next to some veggies and rice. So, when I walk outside and see achicken, right by my door. I am livid.
I storm backinside, much to the astonishment of Vanderwood who was sitting on the couchreading. I walk straight up to them and yank their taser right off their belt, well I try to anyway. Their reflexes are much faster than mine. I put at themand they simply quirk their eyebrow at me.
“What are youdoing?” They say as they cross their arms and look up at me.
“There is achicken outside, I’m going to tase it.” I huff as I put out my hand, asking forthe taser. They simply scoff and stand up.
“There is not achicken out there, you’re crazy.” They roll their eyes as they head towards thedoor.
“I’m only crazyfor you babe.” I giggle as they stop in their tracks. They turn and glare atme.
“Stop with thelame ass pick up lines Faith.” They start towards the door once more.
I mumble ‘never’under my breath as they open the door. I see them freeze in front of me, I pokemy head around them. My jaw drops at the sight I see, not only is there morethen one chicken now, they seem to be very angry chickens. I gulp as I hidemyself further behind Vanderwood, I glare at the chickens as I place my handson Vanderwood’s hips.
“Faith, what didyou do?” They are still staring at the chickens and I do not wanna see theirface.
“What? What makesyou think I did anything?” I turn my glare to them and they shake their head.
“It must have beenyou! I sure as hell didn’t know anything.” They turn towards me part way andpoints. “Those birds look angry as fuck, what did you do?”
“I didn’t knowanything! I haven’t even left the house! And they are chickens!” I am waving myarms frantically. What the fuck? I didn’t do anything. I was literately justtrying to leave. Rude ass
“They are birds,Faith! Not chickens!” They are pointing at them now, glaring at me.
“Chickens arebirds, babe! What the fuck.” I huff and fold my arms. Sheesh.
“Oh wow, what abrilliant observation Faith. But these,” They gently grab my face and turn ittowards the chickens. Oh… there’s A chicken, singular. There is a variation ofmany different types of birds. There is even a peacock. What the actual fuck.
“Oh… well, why isthere birds in our front yard?” I turn to look at them and they roll theireyes.
“Well if I knewthat, idiot, we wouldn’t be standing here talking about it now would we?” Iflinch slightly at their tone and glare up at them.
“Drop the attitude, jerk. I didn’t do anything. We’ll figure it out.” I huff as I walk past thebirds. I glare at the chicken who tried to peck at my ankles as I walk past. Istop and stare at it for a bit before mumbling ‘little bitch’ under my breath, much to Vanderwood’s amusement. I look over when I hear their laugh. I flip themoff before trying the walk past the rest of them, but they wouldn’t budge. I couldn’tjust kick them that’s rude. I just stand there before trying to go back insidebut, they have blocked off my exit. I look up at Vanderwood in a panic but theyare just standing there, their hand over their mouth trying not to laugh.
I look down andlock eyes with the chicken and I know. I know this chicken wants me dead, but Ihave no idea why. In one swift movement it jumps, trying to get high enough tolack onto my glasses. Unfortunately for me, it reaches my face. It’s claws wrapround my glasses and my hair, it’s wings flapping away at my face. I feel myself scream as the other birds flytowards me as well, some latch into my pants, others my shirt. I feel tearsstream down my face as I flail, trying to get them off. I fall on my ass as Itrip over one of the birds. I vaguely heat Vanderwood and another voice yellingin the background, I can barely hear them over my own screams. I hear anothernoise and the birds fly away, well the ones that can. The only one that staysis the chicken on my face. I feel someone pull and I yelp, the chicken stillhas a loose grip on my hair. I feel another hand untangle the strands andsuddenly I’m free.
I take a deepbreath and look up, I see Vanderwood standing there holding the cursed chickenand Seven. His eyes are wide and fearful as he glances between me and Vanderwood. They hand the chicken over to Seven before kneeling down beside me. They glanceat Seven once more.
“I will deal withyou, later.” They turn back to me, their face softening. They slide one hand undermy knees and the other around my back. They grunt slightly as the pick me up, Ihastily wrap my arms around their neck and squeak.
“No, put me down!I can walk!” They simply glare at me as they carry me into the house, leavingSeven standing there with a chicken.
Once insideVanderwood places me on couch and goes to get the first aid kit. I finallyrealize I’m bleeding slightly in a few places. When they get back they sit infront of me, and they gently take my arm. They begin to clean any cuts andbandage them up. We are silent for a while before I sigh.
“It’s okay, youcan laugh.” I glare down at them and roll my eyes when I see the smile spreadacross their face.
“I would never.”Their smile only widens with their words.
“It was prettyfunny.” I giggle as I think back on it. “Although, I was fucking terrified.”Their smile falters when they hear me.
“I really am goingto tase him.” Vanderwood’s eyebrows furrow.
“What did he do?”Vanderwood rolls their eyes and looks up at me.
I thought I told you to drink water. You need it to stay hydrated, and Im NOT dragging your ass to the hospital if you pass out on me. Now drink some damn water. -Vanderwood
