Okay, we know it's 'purely strategic' that Lavinia keeps records of letters and secrets that people send her. But there's no way that she doesn't enjoy the gossip just a bit, I mean, she's centuries old, she has to find some fun somewhere. So, I'm making it canon. Lavinia finds some letters and stories too funny or intriguing; she can't help but bring it up even if it has no use to anyone in particular -gracefully, yet unmistakably gossip.
Or sometimes, you’ll catch the faintest sparkle of amusement in her eye as she passes along some “relevant information” to Soren.
“Information is power, dear, whether or not it happens to be entertaining.”
“Strategic, you say? And yet you seem very invested in the Duke’s cousin running off with the chambermaid.” Questions Lucien
Lavinia would arch a brow, utterly composed. “Well, dear, it is rather an impressive scandal. I’m only noting it for future relevance, of course.”

(They are dignified people who often need to be serious, but not robots—eternity demands a bit of amusement, and Lavinia finds hers in the subtle art of well-placed gossip.)
