//Today I have learned that the only thing that can intimidate Val is dogs. I’m sorry Gladdy.
Mabari Etiquette
@inquisitorataashi There were too many vapid nobles for him to talk to in a day. He was drained. Josie had compiled a list of ambassadors and nobles that he needed to speak to before a few days had passed. He did not sleep last night, not a wink. His head was hazy and he almost fell face first into the war-table before a hand caught him. Val felt someone shake him into awareness. His brother. “Huh?” He blinked himself back into reality and panicked. “I’m so sorry!” “Josephine.” Tay, his brother, ignored Val’s awakening. “You’re putting too much stress on him.” Tay frowned at literally every advisor as if they had committed a heinous crime worthy of death, clearly he wasn’t only blaming her though, that was something. “Give him someone who isn’t a noble stuffed with gold up their ass to deal with for now. He’s got enough to deal with already.” “There is a Dalish recruit.” Cullen interjected, a bit too loudly, and clearly a bit intimated by Tay. “He may be useful on the field. Name: Adahlen. Rank... uh... Hunter?” The brothers laughed and Cullen looked embarrassed. Cullen scratched the back of his neck. “He’s Dalish, so you would certainly make him feel at home.” Josie added. “I’m sorry. You’re sick because of me.” Val almost died inside because Josie was so sincere and adorable. “It’s fine, love!” He was trying for comfort. “Don’t pout like that, it’s not your fault. My brother is just a big ole meanie. I’ll chide him later.” After Val said that, Josie seemed to relax. He made sure his long hair was set in place and that his robes were still spotless, especially since he was so mentally disorganized. He didn’t want to make a bad impression. He would think he’d be more concerned about meeting a human, but meeting one of his own in such a situation felt even more daunting and he couldn’t place why. Val looked around the stables for the elf, his eyes squinted at the many people lingering about. Adahlen was an elf so that narrowed down the possibilities quite a bit. He halted when he saw a mabari sniffing around the troughs. He had never seen one before, actually, if he recalled the report correctly the elf had a mabari, but he didn’t dare risk his hand being bitten off. He had no Mabari etiquette training and he knew they were smart. Apparently He didn’t need it because the mabari came up to him and stared like they wanted something. Val stared at the canine, wide eyed and a little frightened. The hound didn’t look like they would bite but Val was stock still, afraid to move. “Um... well... hello. Ah...” He was obviously terrified at that point and his voice was strained. “May I help you?” He smartly added, as if the dog would respond with words. He was about to dash.
I love Valaeris Lavellan because he straight up challenges in this scene
