1) Describe the most important feature of your amazing and fantastical dream house. lots and lots of shelving, built into the walls. all of my comics arranged by publisher, then alphabetical order. my statues placed appropriately. walking into my house should be like walking into a minimalist comic shop. hahaha
2) Would you rather go into space, journey to the bottom of the ocean, trek through a desert? space, definitely space.
3) Describe your aesthetic in three words. dumb comic characters
4) Hot summers or icy winters? ugh can’t i have a mix of both? i hate the extremes of summer and winter. but i guess if i really had to pick, i prefer hot summers.
5) List three songs you always come back to and why Beast and the Harlot - Avenged Sevenfold Mr Brightside - The Killers Radioactive - Imagine Dragons
6) Favourite fish? (I asked Esme for help) SHARKS. SHARKS FOR ALL THE THINGS
7) Gold or silver? silver. it’s a cooler colour.
8) Dinner party question - you can invite 4 guests from any time, fictional or historical. Who and why. hrmm let me think.. i’m always bad at these questions haha. Jason Todd (after he’s Red Hood), Bruce Wayne, Bucky Barnes (comic version) and Steve Rogers. soooo much awkward daddy issues and used-to-be-boy-sidekicks bonding over expensive food paid for by Bruce haha
9) You can have a copy of one book, written or unwritten. What do you pick? (e.g. A prequel that was never written? A sequel that isn’t published yet?) just one? can’t i have the rest of asoiaf that GRRM hasn’t written yet? either that or.. the WoT books as Jordan would have written them before he died.
10) Comfort food of choice my husband’s mac and cheese.
11) If you could make one change to the world, small or big, what would it be? remove the wealth divide. make it so that all countries have welfare policies for those living under the minimum wage, and housing for all homeless people. make it so that those in power are accountable to the public for everything they fuck up. there’s too much wrong with the world.. sigh
anyway.. my questions.
1. Star Wars or Star Trek? If neither, list your favourite sci-fi!
2. If you could choose to be a superhero or supervillain, which would you be?
3. You stumble upon a dragon’s cave, and the dragon is so happy to talk to a human again that it lets you pick out anything you want from its hoard. What do you pick?
4. What’s your current earworm? (ie. something that just pops into your head and keeps going for a while)
5. You are offered ten million dollars in exchange for pressing a button that destroys a country. (you’re not told which) What do you do?
6. If you could choose to live in any other time period, which would you choose and why?
7. What’s your favourite memory as a child?
8. If you could go back in time, how far back would you travel, and what would you do?
9. You have a new house and can choose to paint the walls any colour you want. What colour are your walls?
10. If you could go back in time and change one bad habit you have, what would it be?
11. Two of your favourite characters are in a heated argument. They turn to you for your opinion. Whose side would you take?

Who's dorkier, you or Curry?
me. it’s me.
If you were given the reins for it, how would you have done the scene in the third Hobbit film where Thorin realises what he's become and chooses to go and fight instead? Assuming it still takes place in that hall with the golden floor. Because let's face it the way the film did it, the drama was overdone to the point of being almost farcical.
lol I watched the first Hobbit movie and noped the fuck outta that shit
I’ve seen the first Hobbit movie once and have never seen the others and I will probably stay that way.
so tell us about this strange person called donskoi *chinhands*
I love her so much oh my gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood
She’s also a trooper, putting up with my puns for 3 years.
valarauka replied to your post: wait, speaking of julia earendils, SHE...
We should make a “Defend Julia At All Costs But Also Kick Her In the Shins A Lot” squad. For reasons.
this seems like a reasonable idea
Shudder Before the Beautiful has managed to just blow me away. Oh if only they'd made that a single - though given the length, I can see why they didn't. I'm going to take a wild stab here and guess that you probably enjoyed it as well.
Haha yes, I love it. I posted my thoughts on it here: http://hapfairy.tumblr.com/post/113505172678/thoughts-on-shudder-before-the-beautiful-so-i
Can’t stop listening to it. In fact, I might just listen to it again now…
Sophie, since you are the pre-eminent Nightwish scholar on this site, I would love to hear your thoughts (as ever) on the new single.
Haha, I should put that in my description!
I’m going to borrow a quote from a person named BrickSalad on Reddit here:
‘“It really fits the band and is a good way to say “we’re still the same Nightwish”. Unfortunately, I think most fans wanted to hear “we’re the new and improved Nightwish!”’
This is a rather good summary of how I feel. I was expecting something a little faster and more catchy in the vein of Storytime or Amaranth, where Floor would give an impressive vocal performance that would grab everyone instantly. Instead, we’ve got a much softer and more subtle song, and I have to admit I was a bit thrown by that. But I find myself enjoying it more with every listen.
Despite this song not being a “bombastic” (as every magazine likes to say) anthem, I think it’s sweet, positive and uplifting. Floor’s soft voice is really beautiful, and she’s singing in a manner that I haven’t heard from her before. The chorus struck me as anti-climactic at first, but it’s ingrained itself into my head and I find myself walking around humming it. And the use of Troy’s pipes for the main melody is pretty nice and a bit of a change from the keyboard.
I think this was an odd choice for a single if they were trying to impress the fans, but ultimately from what I’ve read it was more about the record label requiring them to have a single and so they had to pick the most radio-friendly song (and Élan is apparently the only one on the album that follows such a typical structure). So if you think about it instead in the context of something easy to listen to that will bring in new fans from outside of metal, I think it will be a success.
