Valentine’s Day Craft for Kids

Have you started looking for Valentine’s Day crafts to do with your children? Annalisa Douglass, Owner at Okie Kids Playground has come up with a fun way to spend time with your children while also working on their fine motor skills. Teaching kids how to pick up, put down and strengthening all those little hand muscles is training them to be able to hold a pencil and is so important to their overall development.

This Valentine’s Day craft, while seemingly simple, is such a great way for children to use their fine motor skills and their creativity to create a Valentine for their special grownup.  

Step 1: A grownup will want to begin by cutting out the paper hearts.

Step 2: Let the children decide what they would like to decorate their heart with. Options can include: feathers, sequins, tissue paper, stickers and puff balls.

Step 3: Let children use the glue stick to place glue where the decorations will go and then have them put the decorations on the heart.

Notes: While children are creating, talk to them about the colors and shapes of the objects that they are gluing down.
