Thor (kna): "Among the Norse gods in this series, Thor is for once!! The smart one. He grew up with Balder and Loki (he and Balder are canonically still brothers iirc but it’s not really mentioned) and iirc he’s the only one of the gods at the high school who chose to be there bc he was worried about his friends being dumbasses! Extremely based Thor. Like I said he’s the voice of reason and intelligence in the trio and is more of a minor character bc he’s not a love interest in the game. He canonically doesn’t like snakes (probably knows about his fate with Jorm) and he’s got a little lightning bolt in his undercut!"

WHO IS THE MOD FOR THIS BLOG?

WHAT QUALIFIES AS A THOR ADAPTATION?

literally any character based on the Norse god Thor!! Thor from an obscure indie game which only you and three of your best friends have ever played? he counts! Thor design made by a 12 year old on deviantart in 2009? throw him into the mix!

WHAT ABOUT SUB-ADAPTATIONS?

by sub-adaptations, i mean things like the many many marvel comics. you're allowed to submit those too! (e.g. Thor from Thor & Loki: Double Trouble will be separate from mcu Thor, and the female version of Thor from Thor Love and Thunder will be separate from those two). however it's unfair that marvel gets all the fun, so this applies to all Thors in a similar situation. This means that if there is a very specific runestone which you find expecially cool, you can submit that too!

WHEN IS THE TOURNAMENT GOING TO START?

I'm going to leave the form up for two weeks or so.

One of my favourite dynamics is "scary gruff character somehow adopts a child", and Thor in "Valhalla" (2019) is exactly that. Goes from "Stupid mortal children, will keep them as slaves" to "That's it, going to protect this child with all I have".

Also re: Valhalla 2019 - only in a Danish movie would you get two kids (accidentally) high on shrooms AND show actual close-ups of the mushrooms in question.

Valhalla 2019 impression

So I finally watched Valhalla and I had goosebumps within five minutes just hearing the opening narration by Odin.

It’s hard to sum up the movie in a way that makes sense, but let’s just say I loved the main cast, though Loke and Odin are my particular faves, as usual.

Loke was all suave and Goth(tm) and although he didn’t have much to do he was Gorgeous. Honestly though, Odin is a fucking asshole, but I Love Him (they had a kind of echo on his voice (god of poetry after all) and he was all twinkly-eyed when he wasn’t being an ass and I justasdfghjk iloveodin). Missed his wolves though, ngl. The ravens were there. 

It’s unfortunately obvious that it’s a Danish production in that everything was small-scale, even when trying to be epic. The cgi was beautiful (hello bifrost<3), but there just weren’t enough people around. Also, we, as a nation, just aren’t used to making huge, opulent movies so everything was rather more down-to-earth than a story about gods should be.

Also, there were so many lotr callbacks I was like, ‘scuse me, Frigg, is your middle name Galadriel now or?’ but it would be odd for me to actually complain about that so eh

Bit mixed, but overall enjoyable still..
