Oh... Now the hysterical giggling of the people around him made sense. Cerulean optics were fixed above him on the mistle toe he found there. A childish prank, if this even was one. Having never really cared for Christmas traditions or traditions in general, he didn't know what this plant meant. The only thing he could pick up was that he had to kiss whoever he was under it with.
Not good at all.
Hesitantly he tore his gaze from above him, in order to search for his victim. Mikasa Ackerman. This was getting only worse. He had hardly ever talked to her. A few times here and there, but that was not enough for him to be forced to kiss her now. Sapphire hues narrowed ever so slightly observing the other, hoping that she would run away or something.

LeviHan. To be honest, I never really saw the appeal in this ship, romance-wise. It was always more of a brotp thing but I can see where the LeviHan shippers are coming from. The recent manga chapters and OVA showed quite a bit of the relationship and dynamics between these two and I like how, despite their conflicting characters, they still understand each other. I still prefer brotp!LeviHan though.
Philanthropy | AU | Mikasa & Levi
Day in, day out. Sunrise, nightfall. That was the life of the world's people now, and endless, meaningless, circle of fulfilling a role that had been set for you the very moment you're born. It was pitiful, but it was the only way to go about. If you only knew one way of life, it was difficult to imagine things being different. There was nothing to compare to.
Levi pushed open the door to his small apartment and dropped his keys into a small bowl sitting the a shelf to his right. The sound of metal against ceramic echoed through the silence, scattering it like a broken window, just to have it slowly build itself up again.
He sighed quietly and stepped out of his shoes, followed by the stripping of his jacket and slow unwrapping of his scarf. It had been a long day, and honestly; the silence was a welcome feature. The side of his face ached from where it had collided with a fist, and he was convinced his knuckles were bleeding at more than a few places. But it wasn't something he regretted. Those asswhipes deserved every last bit of it for not keeping their part of the deal.
How unclassy, though, having to use his fist against scum like that.
After making sure the door was locked, he made his way into the living area, fishing up a pack of cigarettes in the process. The room was spartan, with sparse furnishing and pale colours. It contained the few things he needed and nothing more. No clues of the past, nor the future for that matter, it would've been a waste of space.
"Voicemail," he mumbled around the creamy nicotine stick and snatched a plastic lighter from the coffee table.
On voice command, the flat screen of the TV flickered to life and displayed a single string of light. The Broad Household System, as it was called, was a piece of technology that most people had nowadays. It was convenient, and very organised, which Levi highly appreciated.
"You have 5 voice messages."
Levi nodded as he made his way to the window, opening it at a full angle before lighting his cigarette. "Play all."
It was the usual, work related messages, from his 'real' job at a 24-hour library, mixed up with contentless calls from his so-called friends.
Inhaling the smooth nicotine into his lungs, Levi listened half-heartedly as he watched the cars move about on the street below. He really needed to wash up after this, to scrub the city's dirt off his skin and patch up his wounds. He felt gross with all this grime on his body. A long, undisturbed shower, then some food, and the-
"Hello, Mr. Levi. This is the Public Peace and Well-Being Office. Because of the failure to submit your report, we have taken upon the responsibility to find find your match! Please contact us within a week or we will have the authority, by law, to visit you ourselves. Have a pleasant day!"
......Why did today have to be such a shitty day?
90 Degrees | Mikasa & Levi
The branch under Levi's foot made a gentle rustling sound as he kicked off into the air again, swinging his arms to fire the hooks into the next set of trees.
It was a calm afternoon in the middle of the year. The previous night's rain had left a nice chill in the air, a refreshing feeling compared to the usual heat filled days the summer brought along, and there was still a barely noticeable layer of water droplets on the greenery in the forest. It was close to perfect, had it not been for his company.
"I thought we agreed on practicing your sharp-turns, Ackerman."
He rounded another tree and loosened the hooks to let his body flip once mid-air, collecting the wires to shoot them out for another round. It was all the commander's fault, making him take the kid out to play just because he 'needed to work on his teamwork'. It was ridiculous. His teamwork was fine. But it became obvious to Levi that the newly graduated soldier had a bit of work to do on said skill.
"You're just making short-cuts. Take this seriously."
With a flick and tug of his wrists, he maneuverer up on one of the higher branches of a tree and carefully stepped onto the slippery surface. He knew she wanted to be here about just as much as he did, but the sooner they perfected the turning, the sooner they could go back to the quarters.
He wasn't sure why it had to be this girl anyway. He was more than certain she still held a grudge against him for beating up her 'beloved brother' in the courtroom, and it wasn't like she tried to hide the dislike. Ah... maybe that's why the commander paired them up, to fix the relationship. Either that or Erwin was just fucking oblivious.
"Do it."
8. My muse serenades yours
Somewhere in the confusion and exhaustion, Mikasa's head had ended up in his lap. Eren was laid out on a cot nearby, still healing from the battle.
A glance downward told him that Mikasa was still awake, if only barely. Her eyes were fighting to stay open, her hand grasping Eren's prone one. It was a sight that had him smiling sadly. Such companionship reminded him of his old life.
Perhaps it was his wistful mood that had the song falling from his lips, or it may simply have been the desire to see them both resting peacefully. Whatever the cause, a soft lullaby fell from his lips, his eyes slipping closed as he lost himself in the song.
When it was finished, Mikasa had drifted off to sleep, and Levi was looking up at the stars with unrecognisable emotion in his eyes.
