A sketchy Jasper for @valjar!
@valjar showed her bby, Ignys, and I really liked her, so, I decided to draw her!
Because I love underwater theme and Orca, this is the result!
I still hope you like it!
Hi! Saw the preorder post!! A++++! And amazing picture for it! 1. Will that be the zine cover art? 2. Will you do any updates when preorders reach a milestone or reach the goal? Thanks!!
Yes to both of those questions!
Hi! How´s the Jasper-zine thing going? It´s been quit quiet around it.
If you’re talking about @jasperzine, that’s not my project. If you’re talking about my redemption AU zine, I’ve been stuck in trade show hell the past several weeks for work so it’s not something I’ve been thinking about. I’m still planning on making one, though.
The full set of @valjar‘s commissions! Ahh, these were so much fun, thank you for putting me up to the challenge!

Hi! What role would a pure Lonsdalite have? Lonsdalite are in pure form harder as Diamonds and super rare. Since Diamonds are rulers, what are they then? What kind of weapon would they have?
Lonsdaleite:Weapon:If your gem is made in nature, their weapon could be a flaming meteorite shaped stone to throw at the enemy. Lab made gems could use explosives. Both could also have hexagon shaped disks.“In nature, it forms when meteorites containing graphite strike the Earth. The great heat and stress of the impact transforms the graphite into diamond, but retains graphite's hexagonal crystal lattice... Hexagonal diamond has also been synthesized in the laboratory (1966 or earlier; published in 1967)[6] by compressing and heating graphite either in a static press or using explosives.”https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LonsdaleiteHomeworld Ranking:Since they can go above and beyond the strength and endurance of a Diamond, I would recommend that the gem would lead their own colony or assist the canon Diamonds in making decisions for their courts and the empire as a whole.
Commission for @valjar featuring a human AU! This was so fun to draw, I’ve never done a human Jasper before.
Pay-what-you-can commissions are still open, and the queue is now empty!

Hi, I heard, you want SU ask, so here´s one: I don´t know, if like Jasper, but what do you think about her, her characterization/behavior/portrayal in the show? I was pretty ...SHOCKED, that after that nightmare named Malachite, she decided to retreat into the sea after Crack The Whip without a sign of discomfort. I don´t know, if it´s just me, but I have the feeling, there´s something weird going on about Jasper and she will come back! What do you think? Or are you more "Team Lapis"?
I am super, super team JasperxPearlxGarnet so this is an exciting ask to get, ahh, thank you!
That actually bothered me when it happened on screen, but as far as I’m aware, it was a nod to Vegeta pulling the same kind of dramatic nonsense in DBZ before his inevitable redemption, which is... kind of a reason to give it a pass. I will so take it if it’s foreshadowing of a glorious redemption arc.
...Which the crew seems to have put on hold. Hopefully not forever. Please bring back beefy wife.
As far as her characterization overall goes, I am so happy for a character that asks questions in this show. The other Gems either actively avoid it (Garnet) or make shit up badly (Pearl) or avoid questioning anything that isn’t funny (Amethyst), etc. Jasper is really fun to write, because she actually isn’t that effective a villain under scrutiny--she retreats when she’s been beaten, if Fusing with someone isn’t an option, and she doesn’t go all out against the fleshy children. I don’t think she was just too busy being fabulous to kick Stevonnie’s ass; I think Connie being there, as with their meeting in the Frozen North, is going to come into play as part of why Jasper didn’t finish things when she might’ve been able to.
Or she might not have been able to, because Fusion drives her nuts. Jasper when she has her shit together is clearly dangerous and a force to be reckoned with; Jasper when faced with other people’s tangible relationships falls apart, because she’s desperately lonely and self-loathing. She’s not perfect, she’s an anomaly. By her own definition she doesn’t belong in Gem society.
I want Jasper to come back, there’s so much she could potentially tell us about the war, and Gem society, and Homeworld, and what it means to be a quartz--and at the same time, she has so much she could learn from Amethyst and Steven especially, about learning to love yourself. Jasper very, very clearly doesn’t, and the “Everyone I Fuse with goes away” line (which I may not be quoting exactly, woops) seems like it’ll indicate someone having to prove her wrong.
I love getting to gush about characters, ahh. I’m not sure if this was very coherent, I’m sorry!
