First Line Challenge

I wasn’t technically tagged to do this, but @shmisolo did it so I decided to give it a bash. (To all people who have recently tagged me in memes that I haven’t got around to doing, I'm sorry.)

RULES: List the first lines of the last ten stories you published. Look to see if there are any patterns that you notice yourself, and see if anyone else notices any! Then tag some friends.

She’s on her way home, smiling at the distant, already lit lights of Oxford Street, sliding past the trickle of busy families and people laden with shopping bags filled to bursting with brightly coloured presents, and she’s breaking off the tip of her pie (banoffee, sometimes it seems she’s the only one that likes it, but she’s never one to turn down any flavour, considering) when she remembers. -- i won’t breathe (i can’t hide)

What’s the pattern? I used to think there was no real pattern to my opening lines, but now I’m realising that I find it hard to start a story with an action or a piece of dialogue. I think this is mostly because of my screenwriting degree (excuse me while I light a cigarette in a pretentious manner, and smoke it, pretentiously, doused in black and white and speaking with an outrageous French accent). A script always starts with the setting, and that seems to have bled into how I write my fanfic.
