UNPROMPTED / ALWAYS ACCEPTING

being a hero wasn’t all it’s chalked up to be, rumi thinks as she finishes the tail end of her patrol shift. a stalker was on the loose, and unfortunately for rumi, they knew what the fuck they were doing. it’s a case that’s kept her up late at night, chasing threads and only coming up with frayed ends. she needed some perspective, but with all her other responsibilities she’s been stretched quite thin. she’s been left with little to no room to sit down and properly sift through evidence, much less glance any of unread he reports collecting dust at her desk. rumi was going to crash soon, she just knows it, if she didn’t get some brain food to get her through the rest of the day. with sustenance on her mind, the fifth ranked hero trudges through the streets, letting her nose be her guide. but she’s rudely interrupted by a shout of her name. snowy ears twitch as a familiar voice draws near, and as they enter her space, rumi immediately recognizes the voice’s owner “virgo!—” she manages to smile, though it comes off as more of a grimace. she quickly drops it, rubbing the back of her neck as the teenager continues to ramble “—it’s been a long week, i’m not gonna lie. i’ve hit a roadblock with this case and i thought some air and grub after patrol would help a bit—” but rumi needn’t look any further for food, for the young hero in the making offered her a bento that permeated a mouthwatering scent (when was the last time she had a home cooked meal? not since she last visited her parents probably. . .) “—aw shucks, birdie, you didn’t hafta! i really appreciate it. you saved me a couple hundred yen—” the woman gratefully accepts the meal, teetering on her tiptoes to ruffle their hair “—stop by my agency so i can return the favor, hm? maybe i’ll even write you a letter of recommendation if hawks or etsu won’t.”
