Smith had a different image in mind when Val said she wanted to join him at work... Oh well.
What's wrong? You were so bold before, Smith!...
S'been a real long day.
[From This Prompt List]
[types of kisses] ♡ 19) kissing their injuries
Val catches Smith on his cigarette break while Mac takes his sweet time getting something from his room.
It wasn't the intended purpose, but it's a nice bonus!!
The scarf was so big because Val took after her father and got stuck in a work loop and didn't notice until it was far far too late 😔
ValSmith where Val convinces him to get fitted for a clothes by Yarrow or something like that. Or maybe just taking him clothes shopping in general. Nothin too fancy since that's not Smith's style but like, just a lil somethin nice that he can wear on occasion or even as a just in case thing. Idk just Val getting Smith new clothes cause he deserves nice things even if he doesn't think so
Val would drag Smith into her dad's shop for a quick visit to pick something up while they're out and about.
It'll take two minutes, she swears.
Smith steps through the door with this sneer on his face, being a bit flippant and rude about the whole environment while Val bee-lines through the store with familiarity. Smith stays near the front--he wants to get out as soon as he possibly can--looking at price tags attached to display coats and scoffing.
Smith never understood the appeal of expensive clothes. Clothes were meant to be worn out and handed down, after all.
When Val walks out with a pretty looking box, she's got a tall yarn ball man attached to her hand and dragging behind her. Smith turns and makes squinted eye-contact with what he could only assume to be the shop's owner.
"See, look, this is the man I was telling you about!! Smith, this is my father."
Instant change.
Smith straightens his back, standing to attention. His shoulders square and color drains from his face.
He has a polite, but bashful, conversation with Yarrow; About what Smith does for work (must be labor intensive, with all those bandages), about his family, about how he knows Val. Smith was tripping over his words, trying to leave a nice impression with the man.
Smith had never stuttered before.
Yarrow simply smiles, and tells Smith that it's nice to finally put a face to the name, that they should see each other again. Smith nods and says the same. It's probably the most respectful and professional Val had ever seen Smith act.
He practically shakes Val after leaving the store, though, lamenting through her giggles.
"You NEVER told me that was your pa's shop! I shoulda been dressed better, now what's he think'a me??"
"I didn't think you cared that much!"
