A Simple DIY Guide to Valve Lapping
A Simple DIY Guide to Valve Lapping
Here is a great video on how to do a valve job. This guy shows how to lap valves by hand using basic tools purchased at your local auto parts store. He does a great job demonstrating how to lap valves using metal grinding compound, while teaching a method using a pizza box to organize the valves, to ensure they stay in the proper order once all of your valves and valve springs are removed from the cylinder head. Another excellent point he makes in this video is to use a brass wire wheel on the valves rather than using a standard stainless steel one, so you make sure not to damage the valves.
