the T isn’t there because this is directly addressing the issue of lesbian/gay/bi/pan/poly aces who headcanon LGBP characters as also being ace like them being told it’s homophobic to do so with reasons that imply that their asexuality makes them and the other part of their orientation something lesser than what it would be if they were LGBP and not ace, in a way that also comes off as dehumanizing.

at this point one could make a post about how all aces are being treated as almost subhuman by many exclusionists tho. implying we can’t really love our partners like non-ace people can, for example, is something I’ve seen aimed at every ace, no matter what their romantic orientation is or if they’re cis or not. and just today I saw an exclusionist flat out say regardless of an ace’s romantic orientation they aren’t LGBT, which means it’s not going much further to say even if they’re not cis they’re not welcome as part of the community.

that whole “aces are a sexuality fandom” thing many exclusionists passively or actively support could be tied in to that as well. they could consider asexuality as less than an orientation because they already see us as something subhuman on some level, which means there’s no guilt for them to feel if they demean an entire part of our identity. and the sexualizing of ace identities by making it TMI while desexualizing by making it seem as if aces literally cannot express themselves sensually or sexually to their partner if they want (because attraction and action are two different things) to and directly saying “let men love men” to people who are headcanoning a character as a gay ace implies an inability for aces to really love their partner too. if gay aces were equal to non-ace gays in their mind, if they viewed them as just as valid and human as non-ace gays, they wouldn’t be implying that a gay ace can’t really love their partner. they can wish we were put into concentration camps and get away with it because they don’t see us as something human enough for them to be properly bothered by statements like that.

there may be a sliding scale of how human/subhuman an ace is to them too. like the more important, or at least vocally important, your ace identity is to you the less human you seem. because they do treat aces that side with them, who often don’t put as much emphasis on that part as aces who are inclusionists, as equals or at least near equals. they wouldn’t directly imply things like that to those aces, while they can and will to those who are for inclusion.

but that post was just expressing part of a more wide reaching issue and I really don’t have the spoons to try and handle the whole of the problem in one hugeass post personally. so I just handle parts at a time.

When i went to their booth for a little club advertisement thing they almost didnt let me take a flyer because they “weren’t sure i’d actually come to any meetings” and kept asking if i was “actually a part of the community” like i was faking it or something and were just really like....cold and standoffish to me

 i mean i was wearing like a floral dress with my hair down and i probably didnt really “look “””queer”””” according to campus standards but

sigh. it was like my 5th day of university too plus all the friends ive made are very accepting of me so i dont mind....even though yeah it feels really lonely at times
