Scenario: SQQ got into a fight with LQG after drinking a little too much at a party hosted by CQM sect. YQY tried to deescalate the situation, but this ended up with SQQ spilling (dumping?) wine all over the sect leader. In front of everyone.

YQY immediately stands up, hoists SQQ over his shoulder, and carries him out like a belligerent child. To avoid further embarrassment to both the sect and SQQ's reputation.

YQY took his robes down outside because they're drenched. SQQ's ass is NOT carrying Xiu Ya.

look.... i'm not saying it would fix everything... because yue qingyuan and shen jiu are pretty comprehensively broken by the time they reunite at the cultivation alliance conference... but i do think that if yue qingyuan had broken down sobbing and clutched at shen jiu... if yqy learned from the sqh & lbh school of wet sad puppies... i think it, at the very least, wouldn't have gone worse.

this is only because sj knows yqy can't & won't fake cry, of course.

qijiu are monstrously codependent, no matter if it’s romantic or not entirely, it’s just this specific flavour of queer-platonic, trauma-bonded, homoerotic relationship that can only be a result of a shared terrible childhood

yue qingyuan will never dare go against xiao jiu’s wishes because what if he gets even more fed up and leaves? he can’t afford to let shen jiu down again, why would he do anything that could even displease him? (he still fails, xiao jiu remains resentful)

and shen jiu would have preferred a yue qi that was dead in some ditch than a yue qingyuan that soared high in the sky because a dead yue qi would be still his yue qi (his corpse to bury, his bones to kneel upon, and yue qingyuan could never be fully his)

qijiu headcanon that SJ pretends he hates the sound of footsteps behind him but never reacts when it’s YQY. anyone else comes up too quietly and he’s already bristling, hand half-raised, but with YQY he just keeps walking and doesn’t turn around or doesn’t even acknowledge it. YQY notices this years later and nearly shortcircuits over the realization that shen jiu has been unconsciously trusting him with his back this whole time

Shen Yuan picks up painting as a hobby to try and fit his role as Shen Qingqiu better and he’s painting anything that comes to mind, masterfully painting tragically beautiful landscapes and cityscapes and portraits he’s dreamed up. Yue Qingyuan is stabbed through the chest with a cruel knife twisting of horror, nostalgia, and relief the first time he comes to Qing Jing Peak and sees one because those are from his and Shen Jiu’s childhood and Shen Jiu’s still there.

I've seen a lot of "sy is the spitting image of sj and this creates Problems" but have you seen any "sy is the spitting image of yqy and this creates Problems"? I think that would be very tasty

shen yuan is qing jing peak's newest disciple bc sj saw him and HAD to grab him . and then ... well the foul little beast he had taken in suddenly pales in holding his attention whatsoever.

sj just stares at this young yqy who he just itches to hurt just like yqy hurt him but when he does and he sees yue qi staring up at him in fright he just feels nauseous and like he wants to die. like he hates yqy so much for abandoning him, that he WANTS to punish him somehow even if its not truly him and then he does and .

its awful ... but then suddenly even though the self hatred tells him to be even worse that this tiny child will betray him too unless he breaks him, he thinks to himself that he can finally mould this little creature into something that will never ever leave him . that wouldn't want to leave him, that can not leave him. he cant be abandoned again.

shen yuan just wants to spit blood at this weird obsessive turnaround that was thrust upon him.
