I designed mechs for the She-Ra-PG characters in Lego Digital Designer, which took some initial cleverness because LDD is no longer supported by Lego and it took dark magic to get it to load the assets properly.
Pose as a team. Shit just got real.
Individual designs and turnarounds under the cut!
ARTEMIS
Sword of Protection (@athetos)
Artemis and Terra, as our She-Ra and our token non-powered character respectively, do not have Guardian Beasts (yet). So these designs are going to be a little less over-the-top than the others. The mechsuits are armed with a rocket launcher and a rapid-fire cannon, and Artemis has a cape because they needed to deck out She-Ra’s mech in more cool stuff.
(Structurally, they are based on the Super Chub design created by the Mobile Frame Zero player HatRabies. I may be a thief but at least I’m a thief who gives credit!)
EMBER
Hearthstone (@freezingmyblitzballs)
Ember has a fire sword and a flamethrower that I’m actually pretty proud of. All of the Guardian Beasts have an animal theme, because “Guardian Beast”, and for Ember, we went with a firefly - hence the bug wings and the antennae.
FRIGG
Unknown wind Runestone (@etherianfrigatebird)
Frigg is a bird-person (anyone who knows Osprey will be absolutely not surprised to learn that) so I went with a bird theme, hence the beak and the wings. I also came up with a few different designs (one with a shortsword, one with a talon-like claw) but i ended up going with the flechette cannon because why not.
NIMAI-ZAHIRA
Pearl (@softpastel-lesbian)
Nimai-Zahira is an archer (as Starscream learned to his cost) and tied to the water, so blue and with a bow was a natural call. It’s not super obvious, but I was trying for a bit of a manta ray theme, hence the wings and the antennae.
NOAH
Heart-Blossom (@k-ng-tee)
Noah’s mech has a rabbit theme by player request, hence the ears; the wings were specifically requested, too. The staff has a crescent moon at the tip because in Japanese tradition rabbits are associated with the moon, and I wanted a cooler thing to do with the staff than just “big stick”. (As for the single eye, that is there because I think robots with a single round eye are cool.)
PETRA
Unknown Earth Runestone (@curiousscientistkae)
Petra’s mech has a bit of a badger theme, hence the prominent stripes; it’s hard to do at this scale. The mech is also a bit of a nuisance to pose because of things like the wrist drills or the stuff around the waist (it’d probably be less of a problem with physical bricks).
REESE
Fractal Flake (@paperjamz)
Reese is the baby of the bunch, although the fact that she is also able to lay down a devastating ice bombardment means you shouldn’t underestimate her. Her mech’s animal theming is an arctic fox, hence the cute wittle ears.
RHODIUM
Lodestone (@therodrigator6)
Rhod got a bit of a dragon theme, and also a magnet theme because that’s what the Lodestone does. I think this design has the world record for “Most Khopeshes on a Lego Robot”, with nine (four on the wings, one on the sword, two on the magnet-cannon pincer thing, and two making that weird halo thing surrounding the head).
TERRA
(@rebtherebel)
Terra is also in a customised mechsuit using a Super Chub chassis. She doesn’t have the cape attachment, but she also has the rapid-fire cannon and rocket launcher - I just went for vertical ones in this case rather than Artemis’s horizontal. (I came up with different designs because I am a total showoff like that.)
VAMBRA
Black Garnet (Me)
Vambra was originally going to have a bit of an owl theme, but since she’s tied to the Black Garnet and Frigg got first dibs on bird thematics, I went with a scorpion instead. As you can see from this design, she’s also a big tanky bruiser with giant crushing fists; I took some cues from Vi Leagueoflegends for that one.
