In a desperate attempt to keep Korra from sealing the portals, the now weakened spirit- with what little strength it had left- took hold of each bloodbender, dragging them by their feet.
But before their bodies could cross the portal, Korra launched herself and took hold of their hands. She already lost them once.
"Korra, let me go!" Both brothers pleaded that she should help the other.
"No" Korra had a tight grip on both their hands "I can do this!"
But as Vaatu kept dragging their bodies, hers was also being pulled.
if only she could focus on earthbending some sort of shield! But she had to let one go and act fast..
Please! she begged as her mind tried to concentrate. She wasn't going to risk letting one go.
But it hard to do so with all the chaos going on inside her head.
"Korra" The Avatar opened her eyes and found theirs.
____________Only one____________
"I can't do this to you" She sobbed. "I could never live with myself knowing I could've saved you both!"
____________But you can't ____________
"Please forgive me " She closed her eyes. A tear slid down her cheek.
The choice was made
"Noooooo!!!" Vaatu shrieked
"Human! How many times do I have to tell you to keep your feet off the table!"
"Hey, you're the one who dragged us to this dump!" Noatak shot back. "What did you expect?"
"Did you somehow believe we were all going to live happily ever after" Tarrlok smirked as walked past the great Spirit and into the kitchen.
"I, the great spirit Vaatu won't stand for this kind of nonsense!"
"Will you all please be quiet!" The former Water Tribe Chief said as he entered the room with a book in his hand. "It's hard enough to think of us spending an eternity together. The least we can do is try to get along!"
"Noatak!" Tarrlok came running out of the kitchen. "Did you change the charts again! You already spend two night in a row with Korra!"
The three waterbenders and the spirit started to argue.
"I want you all out" Vaatu was losing his patience.
"Can't I read a book in silence for once!"
"Tarrlok, when was the last time you took a bath!"
"Shut up Noatak!"
"What's going on here?!" The room grew quiet once Korra entered.
"He started it" The three waterbenders pointed at Vaatu.
"Mphmm"
The men stepped aside and watched Korra walk up to Vaatu.
"Well.." The Avatar said as she stared at the Dark Spirit with crossed arms and one foot tapping impatiently at the floor .
From behind, the three men snickered at the sight of the The Great Dark Spirit being scolded by a small (compared to his size) 18 year old girl.
"I apologize" Said the Dark Being through clenched teeth. "It will not happen again"
"You bet it won't" Korra reached out to grab Vaatu by the ear. "Unalaq, fetch me my ball of yarn. I think Vaatu needs a time out"
Five minutes later.
"There we go" Korra said as she tied the last knot. "This ought to hold you for awhile. And I've cut a few branches from the tree so you don't have to worry about getting scratched
"This is a disgrace! Child, How dare you mock my spirit form!"
"I think you just earned yourself three extra minutes."
The doorbell rang.
"Oh, by the way. Yakone is going to stay with us from now on. Hope you don't mind making room for a fifth"
