Leo looks over at you while licking his soft serve, eyes wide and innocent. He watches the way your eyes go dark, heavy with desire as they focus on the way his pierced tongue glides over the melting ice cream, lapping lightly at it. Leo stifles a laugh. "Jeez [y/n] can I have my ice cream in peace?" he mutters with an air of exasperation, though there's a subtle glint in his eyes, fully enjoying himself as he continues giving you a show.

croc tries really hard to act like he doesn't care while discretely helping luffy any chance he gets, buggy is pretending not to see it while losing his mind because What even is his life anymore? mihawk switches between not caring to Having Suspicions but mostly not bothering with any of this. luffy thinks croc is being weird but so has everyone since he's turned so that's just how it is now. mingo is too busy being awful to realize what's going on, somehow comes to the conclusion croc is jealous.

Listen as someone who has been obsessed with vampires like my entire life (but not in a ooh there sexy way its like the symbolism man of what vampires can mean) i am a huge fan of your op vanpire au.

I know you just made a post with lore (amazing art btw) but is there anything else about the au you want to talk about. Id love to hear everything

there's a lot of things i want to talk about the au!! im going to use the frantic energy from the year to get myself some bravery and say some of it is inspired by my own experiences with hallucinations and delusion (dont ask about it pls), with the au i want to explore what it would be like having the person who changed you being very literally stuck with you.

i love stories where characters end up sharing a mind and/or body, i also really dont like when its just good person vs bad person, nuance is a lot more fun lol. the relationship luffy and mingo will be forced into stuck as they are is something important to me. mingo is an awful monster but since he can feel everything luffy does he ends up trying to teach him how to live as a vampire, how to take care of himself. im also very found of the concept of parasite (they're literally the worst thing ever and so fucking scary, so naturally they keep coming up in my stories).

it's also about luffy's body and mind failing him, because of the mindlink he has a hard time knowing where he is, sometimes who he is, what is relationships were supposed to be with others, it gets complicated for him! how hard it is to go through one's daily life when your sense are all messed up! (mingo also struggles with that a bit, but this isn't about him, even thought it's new for him too he get used to it much more easily for plot convenience).

other's ppl reaction to the situation also, i feel, completely unconsciously was also incidentally inspired by my own fear of being seen as a monster or dangerous, something to be put down or locked away!

there's also a few jokes in that lore post that reflects this here:

bugs are a pretty common brand of hallucination, be they crawling in the corner of your sight or inside you, making you feel like a walking hives, this was a funny reference to that!

"surprisingly he doesn't start biting people or become violent." this is my not very subtle "mentally ill and neurodivergent folks aren't inherently dangerous pls stop killing us". the occasional euphoria from bloodthist is vaguely inspired by some manic episode, the happy kind.

there's more, about the way this is about trauma and feeling alienated, i guess this is also a "character realize they've got a disorder/develop one and now has to live with it" kind of story.

Hii, I just found your ao3 and I read all the one piece Vampire au! And I love it!!! It's really good and I'm so invested on how luffy is doing that I'm thinking of going back and reading it again to scratch the itch haha.

I have a question though! Luffy's issue with stairs. What's up with that? My first language isn't English, so maybe I missed something, but I don't get it? Is it because he's too uncoordinated to go upstairs? Because I think he wouldn't have issues going down if he maybe sat down on the stairs and dragged himself down one step at a time(?) Idk.

Or maybe it's something vampire-related? Like those old stories of vampires not being able to do some things? (Like the one where they can't NOT stop and count every grain of you throw a lot on the ground? I think that was a thing I read once?)

it's because of his coordination issues from not being able to tell where his limbs ends and starts, if they actually touch anything, how much weight (which he can't feel either!) he can balance safely without falling, a constant state of vertigo ect And also because his vision is often overlayered with mingo's too, all of that combined make things like walking up the stairs a nightmare.

(i got really scared catching up seeing law's arm being cut off, then hearing his scream, i hadn't been worried about anything at all before that, just enjoying seeing my favorite Going Through It, because i knew he was alive in the later arcs. but seeing his arm on the floor i panicked and tried to remember if he had both arms or not in any of the images i'd seen and i couldn't for the life of me remember if he had one or both. i was really disappointed that he just stitched it back like that so im taking it away here and there. I'm always torturing him, it comes free with being written by me).

HI HELLO I HAVE A QUESTION! Where are the strawhats in your vamp au? Do they know Luffy is with Doffy?

they're looking after him! they suspect it's mingo's fault he disappeared but they're not 100% sure if luffy's with him!

also have a quick timeline because i haven't given one, the au is very much a wip so only the published fic for now is canon but that's the idea for now:

→ luffy gets turned on dressrosa -> regroup on Zou, plan for to take down Kaido postponed for now -> Whole Cake Island goes similar to canon but oh the horrors -> submarine trip (what i'm currently working on EDIT: more art here and here , also the fic)

-> ??? zone, more the hearts & strawhats interactions, luffy's & mingo's brains keeps on melting together every now and then, stuff, they do go to Wano now?

-> during the party after freeing Wano luffy disappears without anyone's notice, plot twist, mingo was around to discuss with his business partner and managed to get away alive (law's plan failed through and through).

plot twist #2 the reason luffy isn't bloodthristy for ppl's blood is because mingo fucked up when ordering/compelling him to drink his blood while turning him, now he only feel actual bloodthirst for his blood. this is also why he never feels satisfied, his body is fine with the blood he drinks but his mind keeps going "we still need more blood" because it isn't the right blood.

this means he finally acts like an actual bloodthirsty newborn vampire when he's around mingo and looses his shit, this also means he's finally perfectly fine and well and sane for real after feeding on him and after months of what he had to go through relief isn't strong enough of a word to describe how he feels, so he goes with him.

mingo can end his command, have luffy be able to drink anyone's else blood and be satisfied, but doesn't.

(there's also mindlink reasons & mingo being a master manipulator ect ect that'll be partly revealed once im done with that damn submarine horror oneshot.)

-> now that they're together it's a lot easier to function, doesn't mean it's easy to coexist tho, mingo decides to go visit Cross Guild and maybe get a new business going on.

again this could all change to smth completely different any time but that's the general idea for now!

literally OBSESSED w crocodad being true in the vampire 'verse. tragedy!!! angst!!!!

the fun thing is croc can't even beat the shit out of mingo for turning his boy (didn't raise him, didn't know it was his until marine ford, almost killed him three times) because if he does luffy will feel it/be hurt too, so he's just kind of left there unable to do anything but seethe.
