Kingdom of the Dosneni

The Kingdom of Dosneni comprises the former states of Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. This region was the first that the Federation of American States recognized as being an independent country through the Rocky Mountains Rift Treaty of 2037, during the Great Incursion. The original treaty also ceded the former states of Montana and Wyoming, however, the Kingdom of Dosneni formally declared those states as part of the Freed Indigenous Lands in another treaty with the native peoples of those states.

The Kingdom of Dosneni is an absolute monarchy ruled by Mathias Vernissac, Patriarch and Lord Master of the Dosneniiot. The Dosneniiot is one of the 12 known powerful vampire clans. King Vernissac is considered a demon lord of vampires making the Kingdom of Dosneni the only country in North America to be ruled by demons.

The Dosneniiot were not part of the initial demonic invasion during the Great Incursion in 2032. They came to power in that region by arriving as saviors to the populace of the area. The Dosneniiot offered protection from the other demons in exchange for the fealty of people of the region. Any town that did not comply faced destruction leading many to agree to the loyalty compacts. As a part of these compacts the towns were forced to give up a portion of their young adults to serve the Dosneniiot as thralls.

The Kingdom of Dosneni operates similarly to European feudal states with a nobility system. Under King Vernissac there are six dukes which all rule a different region of the country and a series of marquis, earls, counts, barons, and other minors lords beneath them dividing up the labor. There are numerous “commoner” vampires that all serve the vampire nobility in some capacity and were turned into vampires by them - any vampire that is not of Dosneni clan or an invited guest is slayed upon discovery. At the bottom of the vampire hierarchy there are the thralls or the humans charmed or otherwise willingly serving the vampires. Yet, finally, there are the free humans who live their lives normally. Though the Kingdom of Dosneni does limit technology in favor of magic and many people turned back to agricultural work but their lives are not so different from those in the Federal States.  The Federation of American States continues its peace treaty with the Kingdom of Dosneni and has trade treaties with them as well. Vampires from the Kingdom of Dosneni in the Federal States are some of the few to be protected by law as per our treaty rights. However, it is known that members of the anti-monster hate group known as the Dark Slayers have targeted Dosneni vampires and their embassy straining the relationship between our two nations.

Lucien gnawed at his thumbnail as he crossed the hallways of the castle from the council room back to his chambers.

Idiots, all of them. Nagging cowards trying to undermine his authority at every turn, questioning his choices and decisions. They were lucky he was so magnanimous; his father would have already decapitated them all.

But if he was being honest… not even he fully understood why he had done what he had.

To adopt an orphan baby from a pillaged village and make her his heir... Maybe he was mad. Heinrich had certainly looked at him like he was when he suddenly stopped him from throwing the baby on the growing pile of corpses. And kept looking at him like that their whole way back to the castle and to this day, just like the rest of them.

But he knew. He just knew she was special. Every cell in his body told him so, that she was to be his heir, a perfect queen and perfect vessel for the goddess, moulded to his image and by himself only, unlike his other useless children that were spoiled and rotten by their mothers.

Idiots, all of them. But not his Karina. And neither the council or Heinrich's scathing remarks would convince him otherwise.

He just wished it was easier. He couldn't trust anyone but himself to keep watch of her. A wet nurse had been arranged for the one thing he couldn't do, but she was only allowed inside during the times to feed, his most loyal and trusted members of the guard keeping an eye on her and on the doors to his chambers all day and night.

She was precious. No one could touch her but him. No threat to the crown princess would be tolerated.

He just wished she didn't cry so much. The crying drove him crazy. Drove him away from her often before he silenced her for good. But he had to be near her to protect her, he had to.

It was only when he was almost in front of his door he noticed something was wrong.

It was quiet.

The guards at the door looked jumpy and guilty. One of them started:

"Your majesty, general Richter, he- He went inside- We couldn't stop him."

Of course you couldn't, Lucien wanted to say. No one can.

But his pride got swallowed by rage. That rat, he wouldn't dare-

Lucien pushed the doors open so hard they flew off the hinges, teeth bared ready to strike the enemy and traitor crouched over the crib, but before he could the crying he was used to rang through the room, together with loud curses in German Lucien couldn't understand, but he was sure were not things supposed to be said to a King.

Lucien froze in his place, dumbfounded, then mustered all his dignity to yell over Heinrich's curses and the baby's cries:

"What, in the name of the Goddess, is going on here?"

"You barged in here like a drunk bear and made that fucking banshee you brought from the forest start screaming again when I had just gotten it to shut the fuck up. It has been driving me fucking insane for days and if you aren't going to do anything about it then I will."

"Even if it's you, I swear I will kill you if you do anything to harm the crown princess-"

"You did the harm. And this thing is harming my ears and my patience for it. You had the stupid idea, now own it."

In a quick movement, Heinrich grabbed the baby from the crib and held her as far away from him as possible as he marched across the room and shoved the baby on Lucien's arms.

"Figure out how to make it stop crying or I'll kill you."

With that threat, he marched out the door, leaving a still very shocked Lucien behind. He looked at the baby - so close for the first time - and noticed the toy that had been shoved in his hands together with her.

If Heinrich hadn't been hurting her, then…

No. It was impossible.

"Did you…", he started, but that only made Heinrich walk faster and disappear down another corridor.

He looked back at the baby, and tentatively held her in one arm, as he had done with some of his children before, moving the jingly toy in front of her face in a rehearsed motion he had never understood the point of.

Except this time the baby actually stopped crying.

Fascinating.

It seemed Heinrich had run away so fast because he had actually been embarrassed. The heartless bastard got caught red-handed on the shameful act of caring. How adorable.

Even if it was just to stop the noise, as he had claimed, Lucien would never let him live it down. He cooed at the thought and the baby made a curious noise back at him that had him puzzled.

"Well, at least it's better than crying. Right, my dear Karina?"

He looked back at the entrance to the room, catching his guards looking at him astonished.

"What are you waiting for? Fix those doors! And call the wet nurse back, I have some questions for her!"

As they scrambled to follow the orders, Lucien wondered if this was what being a father felt like.

This concept is for a survivor based off the game, Vampire Kingdom/VK.

Active Ability - Batty Spawn: Rhodes has lost her ability to properly suck blood so now she calls our to her spawn. Batty Spawn, spawns bats that will fly in a small area and once seeing the killer will attack and will life steal about 5hp from the killer. Only 2 bats can be available at a time.

Passive - Nimble Flight: No longer able to turn into a bat, Rhodes does the next best thing, giving her a slight speed advantage.

Passive - Royal Command: Rhodes due to her past royality within the Vampire Kingdom will get more money each round.

A princess torn from her kingdom, Rhodes was next in line for the crown and throne. But now she is stripped away by The Spectre(link) just around her birthday. Rhodes when she was in the Vampire Kingdom tried her best to live up to her mother’s footsteps but she lacked the confidence that her mother did. And now tossed into the death game that is Forsaken, her confidence dwindles even more.
