The events in Texas have highlight many issues about gender equality in American government and has had an astonishing response. However, I think it is essential to remember women in other countries who are denied the opportunity to stand both literally and figuratively in government and speak their opinions. We should not let our let our beliefs stop at the borders of country's we live in but use this raised awareness to improve the rights of women everywhere.
Am I the only one who can not physically wait for The Daily Show tonight?
Oohhh I hope Jon Stewart is back for this one.
so much has happened in the past few days like sometimes it just hits me that we live in amazing times
Okay, I did some research.
There is absolutely no sense or fairness in a filibuster. Seriously, it's ridiculous.
Wendy Davis and Leticia Van de Putte are great, and this worked great, but being able to talk for 10 hours 45 minutes didn't make her right. She was right, don't get me wrong, but having the passion to talk for so long doesn't mean we can uproot democracy.
The all-time record for filibuster is held by Strom Thurmond, who spoke for precisely 24 hours 18 minutes against the notion that the vote should be extended to African-Americans. Don't think we'd be celebrating that one if it had happened today, would we?
America, take a good long look at your political system. Listen to your people. Your women want the right to an abortion, and a women shouldn't have to stand and talk for nearly 11 hours just to stop this right from being reduced for the next two years at least.
This shit makes no sense. Everything would be so much easier if everyone just let people have the rights that they are entitled to.
I think i officially know more about the representatives in the Texas Senate than I do about those in my own state.
