It was a good thing George's carpool happened to arrive at the same time as Van's school bus, because Valerie was not home yet.
Van did really well at school though. He had a momentary hiccup last year when his grades dropped from an A- to a B+, however he was right back to being an A student now.
Good job, buddy! George was proud of him!
Those terrible grades were really beginning to bother Van. He was a pretty serious Sim and as active as can be, so there was no reason for him to be practically flunking out of school.
He decided he wanted to learn to study, that way he wouldn't grow up and be nothing more than a Slacker or employed in one of those NPC careers.
He wanted to be more ambitious, and his mother could hopefully help with that.
Ginny couldn't help but give Jasper and Chester the stink eye as she went over to the chess table. She figured someone would join her there, and as luck would have it, it ended up being someone close to her age.
"Hey, I'm Van Paddack. Can I play with you?" the boy asked.
"If you don't mind getting your plumbob owned by a girl," Ginny smirked back.
"We'll see about that," Van grinned, stacking some books on the chair.
Despite a bad start, there was still hope for Ginny to make some friends today!
Van didn't actually know a lot of children around his age group, which was truly a crime for a young Sim with maximum outgoing points.
The closest one he could invite over was Rigel Everett, who was three years younger than him. Fortunately the two got along really well, and could play tag for hours.
"Hey boys, no running in the street!" Valerie called out, arriving home from work at exactly 6PM. "My carpool almost ran you over!"
"Sorry mom!" Van yelled, giving her a quick hug before going back to playing with his friend.
George and Van got home at the same time and were eager for the weekend to start.
"Hey dad! Look at my report card!" Van said cheerfully.
"Oh, that's awesome! Good job, kiddo!" George replied.
The two headed inside, where some new furniture was waiting for them, curtesy of George's paycheck.
A TV, a couch and a potted plant made what used to be an empty space into a pretty cozy living room.
"Since my grades are really good, can I invite a friend over this afternoon?" Van asked, after a few minutes of checking out the new TV. "I promise I'll do all of my homework this weekend!"
And with that, we wrap up the Yearwood family's turn, as well as Year 32 in general! Yay!
I sped through this one so fast - usually it takes me 3 months to go through a rotation, maybe more, but for this one I started on February 2nd and finished on February 26th!
Here's to hoping I don't burn out halfway through Year 33. I want to get more progress done!
Van really loved spending time with his paternal half-brother, and missed him a lot. You see, the two didn't see each other much anymore, not since their moms stopped being roommates at the Boarding House.
(Yeah, what a weird arrangement they had.)
Maybe Van could convince their dad to let him stay over for dinner? That'd be fun, right? Duke could check out their awful starter house with the unpainted walls!
It was time for the boys to head out for the day!
I think Van was a little irked that his mother didn't have to contribute to anything - she didn't even have to leave the house today if she didn't want to.
She could do whatever she wanted with her day, while he had to study.
Urgh, gross.
