America), this unique "football" is played in both Canada 🇨🇦 & USA 🇺🇸 .  Unfamiliar w/ differences between the 2 versions of football?: 3 downs vs. 4 downs?, 110 yard field vs 100 yard field?, the single point (rouge) etc.  For the most part, the 2 versions of Football don't intersect.  Canadian teams play in Canada using Canadian rules, & American teams play in the Unites States using American rules.  But every now & then over the years, the 2 solitudes have met in preseason exhibition type games.  Origin Canadian 🇨🇦: Myth? the Canadian "historical version" states: Way back in 1874, Canada introduced football to USA @ University level, when Montréal's McGill U football players traveled to Harvard U to play a game against the Ivy League school.  Upon arrival, both sides found out they weren't using same rules, story goes, so 1st half of game was played under 🇨🇦 rules then 2nd half under 🇺🇸 rules. Seems rather vague what actual differences in rules were. Altho' factual this event took place, seems less about difference in rules, than a difference in game style & accuracy in storytelling. On Harvard side, the word "Football" meant a game w/ black & white round ball (& not allowed to pick up w/ hands). For McGill, new football more akin to "Rugby", w/ ovoid ball,can pick up w/ hands & run until tackled.
