Sweet

So. Um. A while back I got a request to write a fic of my girlfriend @bartending-for-days and I. Well, more a dare than a request, but whatever. I wanted to have it done by Valentine’s Day.

It didn’t end up exactly as I planned, but I finished it. Might be a part two later, someday.

Warmth. That was the first sensation Van was conscious of as she awoke-the unfamiliar feeling of a comforting warmth at her back. An arm snaked around her stomach, holding her close against-

Mandie.

For a moment, Van wondered if she wasn’t still floating in a dream, that half-awake state where things seemed real but weren’t. She breathed slowly, trying to take in everything about this moment- the feeling of the large hand against her chest, the smell of Mandie’s hair flowing around her head, the soft sound of her breathing. It couldn’t be real. It had to be a dream. Finally, she slipped out of the bed, shivering slightly as the cold air hit her heated skin. Who cared if this was a dream or not; Van was just happy to even pretend to wake up next to Mandie. She looked around the room-unfamiliar. Motel? Motel. A small black box sat on the table nearby. Curiously, she walked over opening the box-

And gasped at what she saw inside. This wasn’t a dream after all.

Might as well give Mandie a reason to wake up, then.

Wearing one of Mandie’s shirts long enough to cover the top of her thigh, Van returned just in time to see Mandie awake, sleepily rising to her elbows and rubbing her eyes. “Morning, brightspark,” she hummed softly, stepping back over to the bed with a bowl of strawberries. “Sleep well?”

Mandie reached out, pulling Van into her lap as they both laughed softly. “After a night like that, how could I sleep?” she teased softly, pulling out a strawberry and biting into it with a smile. “You look good in that.” She wrapped her arms around the younger woman, nuzzling into her neck softly, and picked up another strawberry. A slow smile spread across Mandie’s face, and she held the strawberry in front of Van’s face, just a little bit too far to eat properly.

“Oh, this, is it?” Van smirked, leaning forward to take the tip of the strawberry into her mouth. She suckled on it gently, letting out a shameless hum around it.

Mandie chuckled softly, pressing gently kisses along her back and shoulders. “You tease.”

Van let go of the strawberry, turning her head. “Who, me?” She snickered softly at the unimpressed look on Mandie’s face before turning back to her treat.

They sat like that for several minutes, Mandie sliding one hand over Van’s body under the shirt while she sucked on the strawberry, letting out soft little sounds around it. The fruit slowly melted in her mouth, until Mandie was left holding just the stem. Smirking, Van licked Mandie’s fingers, giggling as she pulled her hand back with a soft noise of surprise.

Turning over to lay on top of Mandie, Van reached into the bowl, pulling out a strawberry. “My turn to feed you,” she purred softly, and Mandie smiled back up at her.

“Hmm, I think i’m hungry for something a little different,” Mandie said, trailing one hand down Van’s back and relishing the shiver she received in response. “Something a little...” The other hand came around to cup her butt through the shirt. “Sweeter.”

A slow smile spread across Van’s face.

Some? Ok, I’ll give you some.

Because we literally say “good night” and “good morning” to each other from different countries 9 days out of 10.

Because I can turn anything into a dirty joke, and she doesn’t mind it when I do. She gives as good as she gets.

Because some days it’s only the thought of her that gets me out of bed.

Because her cheeks are so fluffy and I wanna squoosh them.

Because she is Mandie and I love her.
