These little vanilla bean scones are so good that they'll make Starbucks' scones taste bad. There is real vanilla bean in the soft scones, and there is a sweet vanilla glaze on top of them.
Ingredients: 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour. 1/4 cup granulated sugar. 1/2 tablespoon baking powder. 1/4 teaspoon salt. 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed. 1/4 cup heavy cream. 1 large egg. 1 vanilla bean or 1 tablespoon vanilla extract. 1/2 cup powdered sugar. 1 tablespoon milk.
Instructions: Warm your oven up to 375F 190C and put parchment paper on a baking sheet. Put the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl and mix them together. You can use a pastry cutter or your fingers to mix the cold, cubed butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture looks like big crumbs. You can use vanilla extract or the vanilla bean seeds that you scraped off in a different bowl to mix the heavy cream, egg, and vanilla extract. Add the wet mixture to the dry mixture and mix it in just a little. Be careful not to mix too much. Spread the dough out on a lightly floured surface and shape it into a rectangle that is 1 inch thick. Cut the rectangle into smaller triangles or any other shape you want, then put the pieces on the baking sheet that has been prepared. After the oven is hot, bake the scones for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. To make the vanilla glaze, mix powdered sugar and milk in a bowl with a whisk until the mixture is smooth. Cover the scones with the vanilla glaze and let them cool. Happy baking your own version of Starbucks' Vanilla Bean Scones!
