Now don’t struggle Rita it’s just a little gas that’s all.
The Nurse had turned up the dial on the Desflurane vapouriser as far as she dared
She knew it had a rather unpleasant pungent odour and she wanted Rita “out” as soon as possible
That’s right Rita just breathe in the gas. Nice deep breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth
I know it smells rather strong but just take some deep breaths and it will soon be over
Rita frantically thrashed around. She didn’t want to inhale the anaesthetic gas. She didn’t want to be here at all.
But the more she struggles the more she inhaled and it wasn’t long before she felt her body tingling and a sense of dizziness
She could just hear the nurses soothing gentle words “That’s a good girl Rita. Just a few more breaths and it’s off to beddy byes for you”
A sudden wave of dizziness and wooziness hit Rita. She could feel the mask being pressed very firmly down on her face. No airways being allowed in. Just the thick strong musty aroma of the Desflurane
Her eyes fluttered and she felt an overpowering need to pass out. She could barely keep her eyelids open now. She sensed a loud rushing noise in her ears
“There. She’s gone. Right let’s get in there and get that kidney out. Remember to leave one of them for her. When she comes round we will tell her there was a “complication”. If she complains we can bring her back and give her the full age regression treatment…”
