Omg I’m so happy your writing for Varian!! I wish the fandom wasn’t dead 😞
Could I request a Varian x Fem or Gender neutral reader where he try’s to make a love serum so the reader will fall in love with him but instead it makes them obsessed
(Sorry if this was worded weird I’m new to requests 😣)
Hi! Let me just say, I absolutely LOVE this request idea!! I’d just like to say that I would absolutely love to have more requests for Varian being #MarketingOrSomething. Anyone with an idea can feel free to ask, and I’ll probably do it if it’s not downright illegal or something. I think I made this gender neutral, but please lmk if I didn’t!
Sorry for the request being a little late, I just started school 😰 And I have a draft for this but i accidentally forgot to save it so it got wiped. Bare with me. Also, I’m in church right now as I right this. Yes, my family goes to church on Thursdays too. Bare with me, again.
Fun fact: Every title of my fics/titles/oneshots are names after song lyrics. If you can guess any of the songs I use in anything, then you won’t get anything. You’ll just be really cool.
“Make Me, Make Me Obsessed!” Varian x (gn!)Reader!
You were just a person who lived in Old Corona. And Varian was the son of the village’s leader, not to mention him being some sort of alchemist who was rather infamous for all of his failed experiments. In truth, you didn’t speak to him a lot. A nod or a wave as you passed by each other, but not much after.
But to him? You were beautiful. Your eyes always sparkled, your skin always glowed, and your smile always looked so bright it could power up a lighthouse. Naturally, he had taken quite a liking to you. He didn’t stalk you, per se, but he saw you around enough to learn the things you were interested in, the things you weren’t interested in, the foods you either loved or hate, and other such things. Though he didn’t know too much about you, he knew that he knew enough about you to fall in love with you. And he knew that you didn’t reciprocate. So what does a mad scientist do when the person they are in love with doesn’t evn seen to look their way?
Varian’s idea was simple. He would make a sort of “love serum” full of all the chemicals associated with falling in love and then he would feed it to you. Then, as you locked eyes with him, you were sure to feel that spark with him. Certainly, a foolproof idea. The only question now was how to make you eat it. Cookies, of course! After all, if he needed you to ingest the love serum, then he would a better chance at feeding you something else, rather than just going up to you and saying “Hey! I know we don’t talk, but drink this strange vial of mystery juice!”
He made the infected cookies, before going out to search for you in the general vicinity. You were usually outside at about this hour, and he didn’t expect you to stray from your usual path today.
Then, he spotted you. You were watering flowers in a garden that wasn’t yours. It was probably just that an old woman had asked you for help, for which you were kind enough to agree. Then, taking multiple deep, shaky breaths, Varian came up to you. He was holding a little plastic bag with just one cookie in it.
“Hi!” Varian said, walking up to you. “Y/n, right?” He acted civilly.
You looked up, placing your watering can down to greet him. “Hello?” You greeted, “Yes, that’s right. Varian, was it? Son of Quirin?”
He was shocked that you actually knew him by name (despite the fact that most people in Old Corona knew the name of their leader’s crazy son), but he straightened up a bit and smiled. He held up the cookie-in-a-bag and handed it over to you. “Say, I’ve been…” He thought of an adequate lie, “…taking up an interest in baking as of late.” He though harder, “I have, uhm…been…handing out free cookies to a bunch of people here! Y-You know, I just saw you working so hard out here and I thought you might want one…?”
You blinked at him a few times, then looked at the cookie. Sure, Varian was certainly strange and was showing that part of himself perfectly, but also? That cookie looked really damn good.
So slowly, you reached out and took the cookie. “Thank you very much.” You tucked a small piece of hair behind your ear, opening the bag apprehensively. Slowly, you took a bite. And you realized that Varian was actually incredibly good at baking! It was one of the best cookies you’d ever had.
After finishing the cookie, you looked up at him with a small smile. He was already staring at you awkwardly, awaiting any sort of response. “Well, I must say, that was amazing!” You praised him sincerely, “You’re a lot better at baking than I thought you’d be! You know, you really should sell some of these. I’m sure they would…be…ahem.”
Suddenly, you couldn’t help but look away awkwardly. The moment you looked into his big, blue-ish, green-ish, teal-ish eyes, you felt thw weirdest skip in your chest. It was unlike anything you had ever felt before.
Being as intelligent as he was, Varian looked into your eyes and noticed your pupils dilating as you looked at him. He assumed that meant that the serum had taken effect. And he was right.
You smiled a little wider despite not trying to, looking down at the floor. “You know…I wouldn’t mind you coming around here again…maybe bringing me some more of those cookies wouldn’t hurt?” You suggested. “After all…you will try to see me again, won’t you?”
He smiled, realizing that the serum was probably working already! “Absolutely.” He said, nodding and smiles with his two big front teeth.
You waves at him, before turning and going your own way. He was a little sad to see you leaving, but he knew that he just had to wait. After all, you were going to be in love with him!
Unfortunately, he was so wrapped up in his complex alchemy, that he forgot some of his basic science. See, most chemicals are just fine at room temperature. However, some chemicals, upon heating, have their potency increased by a lot. And he used a few chemicals that reacted this way in the love potion. And he cooked said chemical at nearly 400° Fahrenheit into those cookies. So basically?
He had given you about ten times the dose he had meant to.
Oh well! No harm no foul, right?
Now, it was night time. Quirin wasn’t home, he had “duties to fulfill elsewhere,” as he had told Varian. Varian wasn’t too sleepy yet, so he decided to stay up a little longer. However, he paused whatever it was he was doing when he heard a strange “Click! Click! Clink!” in his lab. At first, he thought it was some type of pesky vermin hanging around in their, but the clicks were too full and loud for that. So slowly, he peered in and saw…
You. Sitting on an emtpy spot on one of his multiple tables, clicking the heels of your shoes together over and over again patiently. You looked like you were bored and waiting for something…
“Y/n…?” Varian rubbed his eyes, not believing that you were there. Much less that you were sitting in a house that you never had any keys to. However, you quickly perked up upon hearing his voice, sliding off of the table and running over.
“Varian!” You smiled brightly, putting your hands on his shoudlers.
He looked at you deeply in confusion. “Y/n…what are you doing here? How did you get in here?”
You rolled your eyes, as if the questions were obvious. “Well, I just realized that I couldn’t bare to wait until tomorrow to see you again! Oh, I just had to see you! Or breathe your air! Or rests my hands on the fingerprints you’ve made in here!” You gushed excitedly, “As for that last part, you never really have anything covering your windows, so it was easy enough to sneak on in!”
He blinked a bunch of times, suddenly realizing the mistake he made in heating the serum. “You-You can’t be in here! If my father saw you here, he would kill me!”
“But your father isn’t here, is he? I heard him tell you he was leaving and wouldn’t be back for a few days! Days!”
He didn’t know what to do. What to say to you. Was this what he wanted? Had this been a horrible mistake? Firmly, he spoke with finality.
“Go, Y/n. I’ll come see you tomorrow, but you just can’t be in here. Not here. Not now.”
You were crushed. He could see it in your eyes. You were about to protest, but as you looked into his eyes, you realized that you could never say something to go against the boy you feel in love with. You sighed, smiled, and turned on your heels. You walked out, before resting your hands on the doorframe and looking over your shoulder.
“You’d better come see me tomorrow. I’ll be ready.”
HI THANK YOU FOR READING SORRY IF IT WAS A LITTLE SHORT! PLEASE REQUEST OTHER IDEAS, THIS WAS SUPER FUN, AND I’M NOT JUST SAYING THAT BECAUSE CHURCH WAS SUPER BORING!
