I like to think of that as a very upset (and admittedly still not getting it) Danny clutching for things to blame so she doesn’t have to face Laura kinda rejecting her and what Danny sees as her way of showing she cares about Laura

yeah, i see that as well, and i think it what it does is that it kind of...mirrors the whole reason that laura's doing this? for her agency and her right to make her own choices regarding how she protects herself.
