“Okay they liked the starter, that’s a good thing right? i think that’s a good thing of by the angel i need to calm down but i can’t calm down because now i know they’ve seen and i don’t know what the hell to do and oh god oh god oh god”

Variel let out a soft laugh, grabbing her Dad’s hands away from his tie doing it up for him. He had been fiddling with it and managed to undo it so she was fixing it up for him.

“Breathe Dad, breathe all you and Papa have to do is walk Juliet down the aisle, give her away then sit down. Won’t be hard at all” Variel said smiling at her dad who gave her a nervous smile

“I know, sorry lovely I’m just. . .i just want this day to be perfect for her” He said quietly and she smiled

“I know dad but we’ve all made it as perfect as we could. Even with the surprise sculptures from Uncle Hepha. So just deep breath, go and find Papa while I grab Juliet.” She said, giving her dad a grin and a quick hug which he returned before she walked off to Juliet’s room. Magnus meanwhile took that time to fix up his outfit, making sure nothing was out of place.

When he heard the bride and the bridesmaid AKA Juliet and Variel talking as they walked over, he looked over at them both and couldn’t help but smile. Happy that his daughters were getting along but mostly. . .he was happy at how bright Juliet looked. She looked beautiful and happy and that was all he’d ever wanted for her: Happiness.

He glanced at Alec and smiled at him, feeling his partner squeeze his hand in silent reassurance before they both turned their attention back towards Juliet. Both of them moving to either side of her and she took both of their arms.

They spoke quietly, Magnus making a point to keep Juliet’s nerves down while Variel and Max-who they decided should walk with his sister head bridesmaid with him as both ring boy and flower boy- walked down together. Making flowers drift slowly from the roof as they walked. The bridesmaids (and bridesman) walked with their partners behind them and finally it was time.

Magnus prompted them to walk when their cue came and they did, Magnus making sure that Juliet didn’t trip and he was sure Alec was doing the same. He caught the breathless lovestruck look on Helen who only had eyes for Juliet and he couldn’t help but smile, Juliet’s dads handed her over when they got up front both giving her hands a gentle reassuring squeezed before they moved off to their seats.

Distractions help

Variel paced, paced and paced some more back and forth on the library floor while her parents and Auntie watched her.

“For Heaven’s sake Variel, sit down. You’re going to wear a line in the floor” Magnus said looking tired and She whirled on him, her eyes flashing and Alec mentally groaned. Knowing his daughter and boyfriend were going to have another fight.

“On I’m sorry, is your friend the one being treated by a fucking angel from something they may never recover from? No? then shut the fuck up” she snapped at him a demonic language, while Izzy had picked up the swears, Alec looked confused and Magnus narrowed his eyes understanding every world. Alec however knew it was bad when Magnus rose slowly from the couch and drew himself to his full height. Variel did the same and cat eyes met cat eyes at the two stared at each other.

“Alright you two, stop with the cat fight” Alec said standing up and putting a hand of Magnus’s arm and Magnus broke the stare to glance at Alec, Variel-who would have normally laughed when Alec called it a ‘cat fight’- growled and stormed out of the room. Using her magic to open and shut both of the doors violently as she stalked to the training room. Clary and Jace kept far out of her way as she muttered insults under her breath. She went into her bedroom, slammed the door behind her and went and sat down on her bed. Holding her head in her hands before she grabbed her phone, sent a text and laid backwards.

“So SOS moment huh?” A voice said and a pale girl with black hair laid down beside Variel on the bed, this girl was shorter than Variel and had dark grey eyes “Wanna talk about it V?”

“A friend of mine stayed in a sigiled room for too long and he got really bad so I bargained with Raziel to save him. Me and Dad just had a standoff” Variel explained and she felt the girl slip her colder hand into Variel’s warm one

“Hey don’t worry, he understands that your just worried about your friend okay? He’ll get over it, you know Magnus plus you owe him some trouble” She said and Variel sighed “Look Vari, sleep, listen to music, stare at a TV screen if it’ll help just don’t think about it. Or try not to think about it okay? It’ll just make everything seem longer and you’re not going to do anyone a favour if you worry yourself sick over them”

“I know Jess, I know” Variel said looking at the demi-god who gave her a smile

“We could go to the forest near the mirror and play with Bea? Would that make you feel better?” Jess asked and Variel nodded “Alright, I’ll meet you there”

Variel walked Jess get up and walk into the shadowy part of Variel’s room and disappear before she got up and got changed into a tank top, it got freaking boiling in the forest this time of year. She slipped out the window and jumped down, she landed on her feet before walking towards the barrier that went all around Idris. She went towards the clearing the lake was in and simply waited, she didn’t have to wait long as a husky bounded over and started licking her face happily

“Bea! Nooooooo” She squealed out laughing and Jess laughed as she leaned against a tree, watching her dog lick her friend’s face “Go get Jess!”

Bea barked and went and pounced on Jess, licking her face and Variel grinned at the other’s girl’s laughter and she relaxed for the first time that day.
