Why did Shaxx need another arena on Earth? Why were they in this damp, dank, Fallen cavern? Weren’t there better places to set up arenas? What advantage was there to having them fight in a cave? Could they even set up a transmat zone down here?
They were so far from the Traveler’s Light. They’d easily cleared the cavern of Fallen, obviously not having been one of their prized locations. The Hunter and Warlock just wanted to go home, but they had one last beacon to place.
“Last one.” Myss inhales as she preps to jam the baton into the ground. “Then we can let the Frames take over.”
Just as she does, Kaya catches a blue shimmer out of the corner of her eye. “Myss! Look out!” She calls, but is too slow.
The Marauder slices against Myss’ leg, shredding through her Rigs, and she falls to the ground with a pained cry.
With a quick slap, Kaya has the Marauder dead on the cavern floor. “Guess we missed one...” She mumbles, approaching her companion.
Casper’s already out, scanning his Guardian’s wound. [It’s going to take a while with how far down we are...] He says, concern in his voice. [I’ll do what I can.]
“Let me see it.” Kaya offers, crouching in front of Myss. “It’s not as bad as it could be.” She says after a quick look. “He didn’t get your Femoral. You’d be dead if he did.” The Warlock sighs. “Still, we should probably tourniquet and bandage it until we can get out of here.”
“Do you have anything?” Myss asks, trying not to cringe from the remnants of Arc energy that tingled in her wound.
“Always carry ‘em with me.” Kaya responds, producing several rolls of gauze. “Just for moments like this.” She quickly wraps the Hunter’s torn leg with a few tight layers, and ties it off with a knot. Standing, the Warlock offers her hand. “That should keep you alive for a little while.”
Myss is very thankful that Kaya knew enough to keep her in one piece until Casper could feel more Light. They often placed too much stock in their Traveler-given powers, that they sometimes forgot just what being mortal was like. When Kaya is finished, the Hunter takes the offered hand as she stood. “Thanks, Kaya.” She says with a warm smile, before limping towards the dropped baton, and jamming it into the ground. As she does, all of the beacons blink in unison, and begin beeping in sync. “That should do it. Let’s get out of here.”
