She is james.  Dio was there entirely because Johnathan roped him into caring about the project and then he had to help sneak Erina and baby Giorno out of the area before heading to the vault. Cross and he Do Not Get Along.

i just realized if i made Giorno in fo3 i’d have to possibly go to Point Lookout or Dunwich and i honestly cannot fucking handle the Dunwich Horror in the claustrophobic and totally darkened business building that was Fuckened before the bombs fell, full of trapped super mutants and feral ghouls

That said i keep imagining Giorno turning to Dio, who is accompanying him out of sheer desire to not let him die, and just “I hate this.” “Same.”

That or he’d take some of Bruno’s gang bc they were paid to do the thing and the whole fucking gang needs a vacation after. There is a mininuke used on the building and they just agree never to speak about it when it’s still standing

i need to sleep so i can Pokemon tomorrow but now all i want to do is think about Giorno befriending Amata--because friends--but also because Dio was coaxing Johnathan and Erina to make sure Gio was Connected to Power in the event something happened. But Gio and Amata just spend time doing each other’s hair and talking and playing. Giorno crying because the other kids were mean and Amata standing up for him. Later, when they’re older, him standing up for her because How Dare They Insult Friend.  This is mostly done in a covert manner, but he isn’t above just decking people. Because occasionally his commentary goes over people’s heads and the only thing that connects is a fist. Can probably just ask Jotaro to do it, though.

I like how every time i think on a vault au for the jjba people its a mess of “what if they were personable to one another”, “they’re married technically”, and “no one can frown at you for being a gay terrible person if they’re dead”

also occasional fluff of like, giorno having an insane amount of plants somewhere. Trish blowing Diavolo’s kneecaps out with a shotgun before helping Giorno haul him to Vault 112 where Giorno left Braun and locking the two in one simulation for eternity or until the reactor shuts down.

if i do another fo3 playthrough i kinda wanna write an au where Giorno is the LW and Johnathan is James with Dio as a morally dubious ‘uncle’ that takes shit hitting the fan as a go ahead to help Gio kill his way out of this mess. They run into Bruno’s gang out and about.  Joseph is the guy that sold his suit to Moira. His family was the branch that made it into the vault a while ago, and how johnathan was able to get in. He then skipped out on Suzie to go fuck his way through the wasteland, as we all know he would do.  Caesar left after him to drag his ass back. They’re both in some podunk settlement with Josuke and are in a constant state of “see we got into this shitstorm with just a BUNCH of ghouls...” and “idk how we’re getting back to the vault. they’re gonna kill us.”

The overseer shut down exploration because of these two. 

Jotaro is old enough to be considered an adult, acts like he’s 30 and smokes like a chimney. Has definitely beaten the shit out of the Tunnel Snakes to get smokes. Don’t tell Holly. Occasionally shares a rare camaraderie with Butch about missing fathers and feels bad about his mom. Used to have Butch over when they were small and talk about these things called “whales” the old vids talked about. Now spends more time wondering if mutants outside resemble fish.

I really like the mental image of Bruno studiously being kept away from Big Town by Abbacchio because he know how many literal children they are already taking care of and he knows Bruno would just,,,, “so we live here now and these are my children” Abbacchio used to be NCR and.. he doesn’t talk about what happened to make him leave the NCR and head out to DC.  Narancia has once sneaked from wherever they are providing merc muscle, to Galaxy News Radio, got past literally every BS guard and passionatly asked three dog to play some shitty third hand rap music he’d obtained on a scavving job. Three Dog is too damn amused to argue much, though he does ask the kid never do that again. Fugo was born in the Commonwealth. The Synths that had been in-charge of raising him kidnapped him when they fled and took him south. Coursers caught up with them when he was about 10 and while his parents died fighting, he chose to run away, dropping several pulled grenades in his house and locking the door. The surrounding townspeople fared much worse than he did in the wasteland before being recruited by Bruno.  Mista was set for death after killing some ‘respectable’ people to save a woman and survived because SOMEONE [bruno] heard about it when he happened to be in the area and staged a raid on the settlement to spring him. Mista rolled with it if only because shit was dicey, and then settled in well so long as he got fed. Passione is an unnervingly well managed merc outfit, similar to Talon and the Gunners, but much, much more wide spread. If something fishy is going on, someone tries to start a protection racket when you don’t know them from Atom and then they disappear? they were stepping on a Passione line. You might not be paying the protection fee directly, but someone IS getting paid. 

I imagine Dio probably fucked off inside Megaton to sniff around for information and Giorno pitied some poor sap who’d stumbled in crying for his settlement--probably Bryan Wilkes the poor kid--and Giorno, he’s not a Bad Kid and this kid is like not far down from his age. So, between pickpocketing the assholes in the settlement and honest looting, he has made some caps and pays to have Bryan put up for a bit. Tells him to find Dio--terrible decision, but you know--and set off to go look for these “Fucking Ants”. Nearly dies the whole way through and is literal seconds from beating the shit out of the scientist down there. comes back, Dio is very confused and concerned because his Small Relation has gone missing. All his leads are “so my home got burned down by GIANT FIRE BREATHING ANTS and he said he’d deal with it” and he doesn’t wanna go out there but at the same time he has the STRANGEST feeling that Johnathan intended to return after his walk about and would be upset if his son was dead. 

The only reason Fugo hadn’t been ordered at some junction to detonate Megaton by the Boss is that Diavolo was weedling for the right cap price. From the privacy of his personal bunker. Giorno gets Fugo to disarm the thing Through Charm, Charisma, and Asking Nicely Because Moira Is A Nice Lady
