A beast in the business of selling forgiveness
oneshot
fandom: Fallout TV Show (Lucy MacLean/Cooper Howard)
rating: Explicit
additional tags: SMUT (face fucking, dirty talk, priest kink)
summary:
Lucy doesn’t know what she’s getting into, asking the Ghoul to play the part of her confessor. He wasn’t about to warn her he knows how to work a script.
preview:
“I’m talkin’ ‘bout all that can-do spirit you got coursin’ through ya. It’s fading, ain’t it? Lots of blood on yer hands now. It seeps in. Muddies the water.”
And sticks out so vividly against the blue of her suit.
“Wanna know what’ll help with that? A little absolution.”
The voice that seeped through the intricate design next was honeyed. Warm and smooth. It pooled on the floor of the small space, and Lucy’s boots stuck fast. She couldn’t believe it belonged to the same person whose laugh sent chills down her spine.
“Dontcha want someone to take away some of that weight you carry? ‘Course you do–ain't it heavy, carryin’ it alone?”
“Well–”
I don't even want to check when I last posted the teaser for this fic. But it's finaaaaally done! Just letting the edit sit and then I'll post it.

Progress is slow but progress nonetheless
Context: prewar AU where Cooper is a 1960’s small town’s sheriff and Lucy is a hooligan he keeps having run ins with on the job. He wants to be a good man, but Lucy is doing everything in her power to prove that he isn’t.

master post of tweets that have ghoulcy energy to me
What do you think would happen if the radscorpions had managed to wound Lucy rather than Cooper? I feel like that might've been a better outcome for both of them, since Cooper would've used her last stimpack on her, and he would've been able to steer clear of the Legion (depending on where Camp Golf is in relation to the abandoned hospital), meaning she doesn't get captured and he doesn't have to rescue her.
Yeah I agree that if Lucy had gotten stung instead, Cooper wouldn't have hesitated to use the stimpack on her, and he probably would have just killed the enslaved woman. Though, I could see him still taking Lucy to the NRC camp, since he knew it was there from past dealings, and we still meet Captain Rodriguez.

Chapter Preview
Outside the engineering office windows, the illuminated paddock stretched toward the waterfront. Vault-Tec's newest display cast a pale blue reflection across the polished walkways while television crews dismantled interview positions that would be rebuilt again before sunrise. Neither of them felt any obligation to speak. Lucy scrolled through another telemetry overlay. Cooper watched the graphs for a few moments before asking quietly, "Still Bahrain?" "And Jeddah." "Find anything?" She hesitated. "...Not exactly." He nodded once. Eight years together had taught him the difference between nothing and not exactly. He didn't ask another question. Instead he rested both hands against the edge of the desk, looking out over the garage below. "It almost feels peaceful." Lucy smiled faintly. "It won't tomorrow." "No." "They'll ruin it with race cars." Cooper nodded solemnly, "I've heard they're rather noisy." "They're impossible." "So I've been told." Another silence. Neither awkward. Neither deliberate. Simply shared. Lucy reached to make an adjustment right as Cooper reached for the wireless mouse. Their hands brushed. Barely. Only the backs of their fingers. Both stopped. Neither pulled away immediately. Lucy looked down first. "...Sorry." "You got there first." "No..." She quietly withdrew her hand, "...You were using it." "I wasn't." "You were about to." "I changed my mind." She laughed softly through her nose. "I somehow doubt that." He smiled. "I was mostly looking for an excuse to stand here." She glanced sideways, "...You succeeded."
