you know what au would be really sad??

gavin has cancer. michael keeps joking around with him, trying to rid him of his worries. the doctors have said all he's heft to live is 3-4 months. michael feels horrible, just imagining what gavin has to go through, the pain that's gonna fuck him up on the last days of his life, but he doesn't want to think about himself. he doesn't want to think about how fucked up he's gonna be, how wrecked he's gonna be without his dickie bitch, how alone he'd feel without that little shit in his life.

oh shit, he's gonna be really fucked up

and gav's not worried about himself, all he wants is for michael to be happy, not to be sad after he's dead and buried six feet under, and he feels fucking horrible to know he can't do anything about it

they make each other laugh, but it's not the same knowing they'll never have each other again, never get to feel each other's hot, sweaty skin, and ugh they're both in depression but refuse to admit it

it's almost the last week of gavin's life, and there's barely anything left of him. he's all stuck up on meds, and he's crying all the time, but only when no one's near him, nobody can see him be a 'pussy'

especially michael

and one day he's at the doctors, he's there with michael because he's the only one who helps him be brave, feel brave

and the doctor tells them that there's a special surgery they can do that can prolong his life for a year or two, but he's gonna need to get surgeries all the time and there's a risk he'd die during the first one

so gavin says he can't make a decision himself and michael refuses to help him, scared that it'll be his fault if gav dies

and gav says he's not making the decision without him

so they both sit down and decide for it

different mavin au where michael's searching through achievement city for gavin, expecting him to be lighting fires or screwing around with some ocelots but finds him instead in the middle of a plain bloody and broken after some mobs attacked him and he rushes over to him and cradles him in his arms, blood pouring out of gavin's body as he looks up with a little smile on his face and says 'there's my boy' and quietly dies in his arms

tears are rolling down both of their faces. ‘why are you crying? you’re only making it harder on him!’ gavin said to himself, drying his eyes with one hand and holding michael’s with the other.

"it’s okay, my little boy. go. geoff and jack will fin—" he sighs before continuing "they’ll find you and take you away from me sooner or later. might as well find them now."

no. this can not be happening.

"michael?"

michael’s laughing now. fuck the pain, fuck the horrible pain in his chest he feels when he breathes. he never got to say how he felt, how much he enjoyed being next to gavin, calling him an asshole, hugging him and taking in that wonderful, sweet smell of gavin’s.

he loved him. so much.

"go, gavin. get the fuck away from here before i take that knife and stab you."

he didn’t want gavin to see him die. he as certain gavin would start crying and refuse to believe everything he’d just witnessed. he’d rather do this and die alone.

"go." “but mi—” “i said go.”

he didn’t get to say his last words until jack and geoff were dragging him away, telling him to let go and that it’s fine.

no. this was too much for him. no. he saw a last tear stream down michael’s cheek and saw him whisper something before michael was completely out of his view.

'i love you too, my little boy.'
