Dr. Contreras spoke out against new legislation that is pending in Springfield which would misclassify highly potent pyrotechnic devices. To our pets, fireworks are equivalent to bombs going off around humans- it feels as though the world is ending. They don't understand why the loud noises are happening, nor can they predict when they will happen again, and so a flight or fright response kicks in. This can cause animals to get badly hurt, hurt themselves, hide, or even go into seizures.
